It will be a great game.... but needs quite a bit more work. Currently it's playable but missing a TON of basic controls that make it pretty "meh" and tedious to navigate if the thing you want to do is even possible yet. I HIGHLY recommend picking up the game.... when it's done.... and while I appreciate the dev team, it's coming along somewhat slowly. Personally I think the whole alpha release fad needs to just stop in general.
Game showed promise. One of my favorite genres. Asked awhile back, September, what was up with updates as it hasn't been updated since June 16th. Dev said he's got a new publisher but can't say anything about it. Sure feels like it's abandoned and dev just took the money and ran. Hope I'm wrong but no way can I recommend this game in its current state of seeminly being abandoned.

Originally funded through Kickstarter as a then better looking Dwarf Fortress like game. Having funded and purchased several games over the years of this type, expected that the creator would learn some useful things and produce a game that is of a better quality. While the visuals of this game look pretty good, the actual game itself is taking steps backwards (no automated item production line, requires player controlled stockpiles). The recent change in the games name (look at Mountaincore) may very well prove that funding games that are in very early development are not worth it.
I can't recomend this game. Despite really liking the premise, it's still buggy as hell, with little to no content and the developers have virtually disapeared since Feb-March. What a waste
I have very little time on this game in Steam, but I backed it way back on kickstarter and played the downloaded version from itch.io. This game had promise but sadly, I think it's doomed. It was always missing something for me, so I never got sucked into it like Dwarf Fortress or Rimworld, both of which did the idea better. Development has slowed to a crawl since about February, and I think Dwarf Fortress coming to steam in a few days will be the final nail in the coffin.
Looks promising, since i'm looking for alternative version of Rimworld, i'll consider this EA as an investment. But no major update since my purchasing, cant refund so i guess it will be a bench warmer in my library. Such a waste this gem cant be polished to shine. it's a big No for now.
not worth it right now i was so hyped for this to finally release. it isnt good not yet has potential but it needs to bake way more its missing features and quality of life. example cant place pillars to prevent mine collapses so it destroys the stuff inside super annoying. cant give any priority orders to prevent this. if you want to support the devs buy this now but it needs to have more things done before its a worth it purchase. basically not worth your money at this time
Excellent potential, lots missing but it has a great start. Only issues I've run into in what should be completed content, is the AI turns into complete idiocy after a short time. Got to a point where I had over 50 colonists and they started dying off from starvation and thirst when there was plenty of food and water available to them all. They would get caught up in their tasks and just not get food or water. Once the few bugs are worked out this could be an amazing game. I would also love to see "Z" levels added to give it a more Dwarven feel. There just isn't enough mountain in a single level map. Update: Going to try their rerelease, I will post a review after at least 10+ hours of play. If you have already purchase the Early Access of King under the Mountain look at their major update. There is a link that will allow you to get the new Titled game.
Game has potential but it's not ready yet. I know it's in early access and I expect many things are not finished but, there is not enough actual game-play to enjoy. Mechanics are simple, not well formed and the interface needs work. I spent a few hours in the game and it was enjoyable, but based on the state of the game, it's just not worth the current price (consider that Rimworld is only $31 and is completely fleshed out and still updated). If you love this type of game, wait till it has more time to be developed and/or the price comes down. Excellent concept and if the developer continues this could compete with some of the best. As of now, the developer is very active, so I have hope it will become an amazing game. Till it has more to offer for the price, I can't recommend.
This game has languished with no updates for a long time and what is there is thin to begin with. Hopefully at some point in the future something great might be there. Right now, don't bother. It's bad.
