True rating: 7/10 Notice: Despite my positive review for this game, it is ill-advised to play. This is a dead game, if you want to play a match, you will need to form a party to experience a match, otherwise you're mostly going to be trapped with random griefers/sweats who may show up. A great game, so long as you aren't stuck with the worst teammates. Most of the time, you will be experiencing the game on a vanilla server, most likely an official server. For rookies, if you want to get adjusted to the game, start out with CTF, its a great baseline mode that takes advantage of all 3 classes and lets you create some fascinating defenses. If you are looking to be more competitive, give TDM a try, all of the combat without any of the structures getting in the way. I personally haven't played it much since I usually prefer being a builder. If you're mostly looking to build, I don't recommend playing on sandbox, the maps always just feel too barren for some fun builds, instead stick to CTF or TTH servers. Usually a random player will join for JUST long enough to unlock the rest of the map, and if you check out the official US servers, you might see some of my own builds still standing. Both modes offer up enough room to get creative, but TTH comes with the downside of no renewable stone, especially since an update a few years back removed the quarry, a structure which made having renewable stone possible, so long as you had wood to fuel it. Thankfully you can get plenty of stone from the terrain on TTH maps for any large project (check my screenshots for examples) The mods on-offer via the modded servers are extremely well-made, though with the drawback of some excessively long download times, which have to be done EVERY time you join because the game does not cache those mods. Give em a try if you can live with waiting a few extra minutes to join these servers, I've lost more than a few hours playing some of these mods!
