About
Become an investigator in Keyword, a narrative thriller where you’ll depend on skills of logical deduction, hacking, and social engineering to solve challenging puzzles as the only means of finding your missing daughter. Play as Guo, a father with a complex past, who must use all the tools at his disposal to find his daughter, Sala.
Solve problems as you would in real life, hack into emails and social media, and dive into the dark web to find your daughter’s whereabouts, all the while uncovering secrets within your own home. Use binoculars to spy into the homes of neighbors, discover lurking enemies, and look over the city of Toronto to find important clues and put the pieces together.
Straddle the line between reality and the game as you depend on your natural intuition to guide you to your next step. With no dialogue prompts revealing answers it will be up to you to save Sala. Get lost in time loops as you discover if your past is all an illusion, or if it really is as you remember. Can all be forgiven? Is redemption possible? Or is there truly no way out?
Set in the near-future of 2048 in a city inspired by Toronto, Keyword merges cyberpunk with traditional Chinese aesthetic, creating an eerie and immersive environment.
Utilize binoculars to tap into your investigative side and uncover if people are who they say they are.
Immersive soundtrack that mirrors the emotional tone of the gameplay by Seycara.
Travel through time loops, changing your view on reality and evaluating if forgiveness is always possible.
Reconsider the consequences and impact of sharing your data and information online.
Gripping and thought-provoking narrative written by Future Science Fiction Master award-winning author, Jiangshan.
Three difficulty modes that let you decide the level of challenge you’re willing to take on with a flexible hint system if you get stuck.

Oh wow this is definitely a good detective game. It has an interesting way to solve and put together clues and leads. Generally games like this would have irritating and moonlogic methods of solving. This game avoids that successfully. Almost everything is logical and clear. You will sometimes think that "hmm I wonder if I can do this" while believing that it wouldn't work, but you will be shocked and surprised that many of them actually work. Very cool. 👍.
Half the positive ratings are "Product Received For Free" When someone described it like Songs From Farca, I was intrigued. A genuinely great game and I really enjoy/hacking detective games. There's some interesting ideas but overall it felt like the execution was a bit lacking. The engine feels 2010, and some of the threads are tenuous. (Spoilers ahead...) You have to buy binoculars so that you can look amongst a cityscape to find this one password in this one random room for a blog. There is LOTS to look and scan. And that may make sense if things were generally interesting but it's a needle in a haystack of otherwise uninteresting things to look at. There are some positives. The hint system makes a lot of sense. I like the setting even. And overall I like the idea it just feels... Not bad, not great.
Keyword is a mystery with hacking puzzles game, similiar to Cyber Manhunt and Song of Farca. Keyword is all about to find where Sala is after she disappeared. You need to use hacking to enter in emails and other stuff to find information, using binoculars to spy on apartments to find clues and use drones to deliver food or weapons to you or other people. The game offers 3 endings. If you played and enjoyed Cyber Manhunt and Song of Farca then you gonna enjoy Keyword. Recommended. My Steam Curator Page: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/theloladass
This is a pretty fun detective game that has an interesting premise and is pretty fun to go through. If you're very focused on dollar per hour of gameplay you might want to wait until there's a deeper discount, but I personally enjoyed my time in game. Basically it's a little puzzler where you go around going into other people's social media accounts to try to track down your missing daughter. There are a few different endings and some interesting things in the game, so I would recommend it. There's a demo as well so you can try that out. My only problem is that due to the nature of the puzzles sometimes solutions are a little obtuse, but it is a puzzle game after all so it's a little hard to fault them for that.
I saw this game from that Cyber Manhunt, then I bought it and I thought that it would have the same quality as Cyber Manhunt. Unfortunately, I was wrong! The storyline is very poor and the gameplay is f*cked up!
It is a good but short (~3h) detective story game. I would recommend with some caveats. + Engaging story with good story-telling + Attention to detail for the inside of the protagonist's apartment (where we stand most of the time). That contrasts with the bland apartments we look at outside our window though (which is what we do a lot of the time). + Some relatively well-put together puzzles (everything is guessable, though a bit of hard-thinking might be necessary, and the hints system is pretty smart) + Good voice acting (although I was not a fan of the protagonist's voice) - An ever-present feeling that the game "pretends" to be in Toronto (at least when playing in English). Was that maybe Hong Kong initially? - Weird digital pictures, it almost feels like AI art. - So many boring copy-pasted apartments in the city. Don't sweep through them one by one though, that shouldn't be necessary. - Zooming/panning UX should be improved. It's a bit of a pain in the present state (and is a core mechanic of the game). Overall I'd say it is too expensive for a 3h game with that level of polish (another review rightly says everything feels "clumsy and awkward"), but I still found it quite satisfying to work through. I picked it up at 25% sale (~10 USD?), I think you should wait for it to be at 50% sale maybe. Please devs, find a way to keep Keyword 2 engaging for ~5 hours!
I grade Keyword: A Spider's Thread an A-. It's an excellent detective game that is mainly about using social engineering and logic to find the protagonist's missing daughter. The story is solid and internally consistent, and it features a few dark themes without going too far into the deep end of depravity. There is no "gameplay loop" per se, unlike other investigation games. It's better to think of this more as an escape room, where each puzzle's solution is either in your apartment or can be logicked out by careful observation. 95% of the game takes place in your large living room or your computer, although things get pretty weird about halfway through. The presentation is fantastic and the music (when it plays) is especially moody. I was tense a lot because the setting and music lent themselves to a jumpscare, but there never was one. I think I probably watch too much horror on YouTube. Keyword is fairly short, as I finished it in about 4 hours, and I tend to be a slightly slow reader. The in-game hint system is probably the best one I've ever seen, and reminds me of some help books for extremely retro Sierra adventure games. If you like detective games or escape rooms, or you just want an engaging story, I recommend Keyword without reservation.
I was recommended this game given an alleged similarity to Cyber Manhunt and Orwell, but I think it is extremely inferior and frankly painfully disengaging. Both Cyber Manhunt and Orwell are games that do this concept infinitely better in every respect, and I would not recommend this game to anybody. If you're looking for something that does this well, Cyber Manhunt is better for Chinese speakers, and Orwell is better for English speakers, though I have also heard good things about Song of Farca.
