Played on Index, literally finished with 43 seconds to spare. Most of it was pretty much a "square goes in square hole" kind of simplicity, but there was at least one realization that made me feel smart - which is the fun part of an escape room. Some odd design choices, and there's sexualized imagery plastered everywhere - which is annoying. But otherwise, I had fun.
Sehr tolles kurzweiliges Spiel. Für unter 2€ bekommt man hier, sofern man nicht gleich alles findet, ca. 1-2h Spielzeit. Gut gemacht!
Yeah, I'd recommend this. It's a bit of a first attempt, but decent. Worth helping out a developer. $3 for 30 minutes, and something you can have your friends attempt later, and not take up the whole night. Once in a while a short escape is nice. It took me 16 minutes to finish. The controls are a bit off. It does need some tooling. The basic hand position is rotated like you are saying "don't shoot me". You have to grab at things a few time, to get them to grab, but if you read the simple instructions, you can do everything. I con't understand why people have an issue with not knowing how to turn on a flashlight. It says "Grip stuff with your grip section of your controller (4 fingers), and use with the trigger". You can tell it was an independent attempt, since there are several books that have the same textures of known books (not sure if this is copywrite legal), and lots of pin-up girls (not for young kids), I'm guessing to set a mood. For someone using all assets from the Unity shop, it's a good attempt. For me, the puzzles were a bit too straight forward, but that is needed when you have a 30 minute limit. It really didn't take much thought to figure things out if you just stayed calm. There are 4 keys you need to find, so there are 4 sets of puzzles. About as difficult a ABODE 1, but a lot shorter. So, basically, if you were to take 4 random tasks from ABODE 1, you'd have this game, but a bit darker. If you feel that is worth the $3, then buy this.

(Original Vive, AMD FX-8320, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070) Doesn't run super well on my machine, but overall seems pretty sweet. Difficulty with picking up some objects though. Had an especially hard time with the battery. I could only grab it from a very specific angle or it would go flying. It ended up flying behind a place I couldn't reach so I rage quitted lol.... Regardless, seems like a cool Escape Room experience.
reaaally good game, 30 min worth, wish they did other escapre rooms, recommended for the price.
I liked the game, up the resolution with stream and it looks better, puzzles are good, shame there wasn't more rooms for this game, still a good game though, played on Rift s with no problems. Ryzen 7 3800X, 5700XT, Windows 10 64.
I used valve index and grabbing items was odd, What I mean by that when I went to pick items up it would fling them across the room. Overall its a fun game and extremely good for the price
Key Of Impasse is a focused virtual reality escape room experience that distills the genre down to its most essential elements: observation, deduction, and time pressure. Developed and published by Vanl, the game places the player inside a single locked room with a strict thirty-minute limit to uncover clues, solve interconnected puzzles, and ultimately find a way out. Rather than aiming for narrative complexity or sprawling environments, it concentrates on delivering a tightly designed puzzle space where every object, surface, and interaction can potentially matter. This restrained scope gives the game a clear identity and allows it to emphasize immersion and tactile problem-solving. The core gameplay revolves around physically interacting with the environment using VR controls, which is where Key Of Impasse truly comes alive. Players can open drawers, inspect shelves, move furniture, and manipulate a wide variety of objects, all of which may hide clues or form part of multi-step solutions. The act of grabbing items, rotating them in your hands, and testing how they interact with the environment creates a strong sense of presence, making the experience feel closer to a real-world escape room than a traditional flat-screen puzzle game. The controls are straightforward and intuitive, allowing players to focus on thinking through puzzles rather than wrestling with mechanics. Puzzle design in Key Of Impasse favors logic, observation, and pattern recognition over abstract riddles. Many challenges require careful attention to the room’s details, encouraging players to scan their surroundings thoroughly and consider how seemingly unrelated objects might connect. Some puzzles unfold gradually, revealing their logic only after multiple clues are discovered, which adds a satisfying sense of progression as the room slowly begins to make sense. The pressure of the countdown timer heightens tension, forcing players to balance careful thinking with decisiveness, especially as the clock winds down. Visually, the game opts for a grounded and realistic presentation that supports clarity and usability. The room is detailed enough to feel believable without becoming cluttered, and lighting is used subtly to draw attention to important areas or objects without resorting to overt visual cues. This understated art direction reinforces the sense that the challenge lies in observation and reasoning rather than spectacle. The environment feels intentionally constructed to test the player’s awareness, with small visual details often serving as hints for puzzle solutions. One of the more notable features of Key Of Impasse is its use of randomization. Certain elements, such as passwords and item placements, change between playthroughs, preventing the experience from becoming entirely predictable after a single completion. This adds a layer of replayability, as returning players cannot rely solely on memory and must still actively engage with the room. While repeated runs eventually shift the focus toward speed and efficiency rather than discovery, the random elements help keep subsequent attempts engaging and encourage players to refine their approach. The game’s limited scope is both a strength and a limitation. On one hand, its compact design makes it ideal for short VR sessions and accessible to players who want a complete experience without a large time commitment. On the other hand, players seeking long-form progression, varied locations, or narrative depth may find the experience brief once its mechanics are fully understood. The challenge largely resides in mastering the single room rather than exploring new scenarios, which may limit long-term appeal for some players. Overall, Key Of Impasse succeeds as a concise and well-executed VR escape room that prioritizes immersion, physical interaction, and thoughtful puzzle design. It delivers a clear, focused experience that respects the player’s intelligence and makes effective use of virtual reality to enhance traditional escape room mechanics. For VR players who enjoy methodical problem-solving under time pressure and appreciate compact, replayable challenges, it offers a satisfying and polished experience that captures the essence of escape room gameplay in virtual form.
