Kennedy Approach

[h1]A timeless 8-bit classic.[/h1] Found out that the [b]absolute gem[/b] from my childhood got remade in 2023 an is available on Steam. So if you ever wanted to feel the pressure of being an Air Traffic Controller, Kennedy Approach is a game for you! Don't let the graphics fool you, it's "state of the art - as the controllers see it" (at least in 1985) . It has this 8-bit nostalgia look which awakes the memories, but the core game loop is nothing short of dynamic and addictive. And the system requirements are so low it will run on a smart fridge. [h2]Gameplay[/h2] It's easy to pick up, and sufficiently difficult to master. While it looks deceptively slow, don't be fooled, things can get heated really fast and you'll be scrambling to reconcile conflicts, set altitudes, manage takeoffs and landings. There is a career mode with saves where you'll be playing for high scores (these were a thing in that time), but you can also simply choose difficulty level. This is a nice game that you can pick up, play for a while and put down after a few shifts. The gameplay's simple but addictive, and very satisfying. There's a manual and it's accessible from the menu. You can speed up time with the function keys F5-F8. [h2]Sound[/h2] Game had a speech simulator back in 1985. This was CRAZY. Nowadays noone bats an eye, but still the computerized radio voice is a nice touch to the game, although you will not really be listening to it much, relying instead of flight plans and your wits on a very dynamic playing field. [h2]Conclusion[/h2] Pick it up, it is a long lost gem that miraculously resurfaced in 2023 and it's worth every penny even if you aren't nostalgic old guy like me who played the original. It's a perfect mixture of simple rules, good pacing and sufficient challenge.
