One must imagine the red balloon happy, for balloons often symbolize joyous occasions — a birthday party, a graduation, the upcoming birth of a child. Yet here I am, an unnamed, shirtless, and barefoot human (in game). I am stripped down to my sculpted form. I am wearing nothing but the lone pair of red shorts I found in the clearance section. They're just my size. And I cannot bring the red balloon the happiness it deserves...yet The balloon yearns to be keepied up. That's all it wants in life. It cannot die. For every painful, destructive pop, it regrows anew, waiting for me, the shirtless creature, to bring it to its final resting destination — UP. We travel far together, through dangerous environments. We go past the winding towers, the laughing gulls, and the devilish alien arcade. I keepy you up with ease, o red balloon, with the pace of a wild stallion. And yet, right now, in this moment, I cannot keepy you happy. For the windy jungle has bested me during hour 2 of my Sisyphean task. There have been tales of others who have already keepied you UP with greater pace and less pain (fewer pops). They must be masters of their craft. Some would say they're Kings. Therefore, I know that I can do it, too. You deserve to be happy, o red balloon. For the game you come from, spawned from the mind of Tom Likes Lemons, is a beautifully difficult game about keeping your childlike hope alive, forever and ever UP. One day I shall return to this review, and update when I have defeated this task. But for now, at the two hour mark, I must recommend this game to everyone who enjoys the art of sneakily difficult games. (It's a good game, y'all. Get it, master it. And for the life of you and that red balloon, always Keepy UP.)
This was a very fun challenging and rewarding game to complete. It was difficult. I popped the balloon more times than I can count. But with enough practice you can start maneuvering the balloon in a lot of fun and creative ways thanks to the tight controls and very forgiving physics. I definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun and tough (but fair) experience.
