Deirdre (the main character) has grown up in an orphanage, but now has reached the age of 16 and it is time for her to depart and make a life for herself. Before leaving, the caretaker at the orphanage informs Deirdre she was nearly 4 years old when dropped off there, much to the surprise of Deirdre who thought she was left as a baby. The caretaker then tells Deirdre of the night she was dropped off and gives her a key to a treasure chest in town that "only she can open". A suspicious, but well-intentioned man brought her to the orphanage in hopes that she would be safe from harm there. He left money and a key that he instructed the caretaker to give it to Deirdre when she was of age to leave. However, opening the chest only generated more questions (and complications) for the young and confused Deirdre. The letter inside that accompanied her combat gear pointed her towards a town of great distance from her home. With her first lead being so far away, she now has the task of trying to get herself halfway across the continent safely, but fortunately, she is not alone!...well, "fortunately" may be putting it strongly.
The story details the comedic and (hopefully) inspiring tale of a girl trying to discover her past, all the while trudging forward with the help of her ragtag, whimsical companions. With the simple intent to find out who her parents are, Deirdre will unknowingly dismantle the largest conspiracy of her era. All with the help of a cast of colorful and humorous characters that are guaranteed to make you less bored than you were prior.
Filled with reference humor, tastefully shattered 4th walls, and a prodigy mage who thinks her pet chicken is a cat...what more could you ask for in a circa-1400's fantasy setting?

Kedemara is an RPG with set-in characters that have their own personality, diologue and interactions with one another. You start out as a girl named Deirdre with a few friends at an orphanage before being swept into a dungeon and a battle scenario. You also get a new character to join your party at this time- later on there will be many more characters to follow suit. The story is set in place and you can tell the general world-building of this fantasy world, and there are many books hidden across the map where it goes even more in-depth of it's story. Though I must say, the dialogue in this game is a bit childish and has some jokes one would understand if they were born around the 2000's. Despite this, it can easily transition into being dead-serious when it need to be. The perfect balance between chaos, order and humor is presented here in the wording of this game. Overall in my opinion, it is truly a hidden gem among free RPG Maker games, and should at least be given a try to experience the world of Kedemara. TL;DR (Too Lazy; Didn't Read) Quite an interesting storyline, memorable characters, and jokes sprinkled around the place. Try this game out when you got the chance!
I normally don't like to review a game until I have completed it. I'd prefer to give a game a full and fair chance before passing judgement, especially when it is a smaller title that is pretty clearly a labor of love. Unfortunately, in this case I was stopped dead by, what I am guessing is, a mapping error. After talking to an NPC that I think is meant to move out of your way, he turns in one direction, and then nothing happens. The menu can't be accessed, you can't move - nothing. I'm sure the developer has a fix, and they seem to be relatively responsive, but this was more or less the final nail in the coffin for me.... at least for now. After more chapters come out, I will gladly come back to this (assuming the bug is fixed). Honestly, I wanted to like this game. It feels like there is a deep story planned, and a wide world to explore. I just haven't gotten to a point in the game where I was able to experience those things. The combat system is fairly straightforward, with small tweaks here and there that make it a small cut above the standard. And there is plenty of humor (I use this term somewhat lightly) that keeps the mood light and fun. The issues I have are just... too great for me. While the game feels like there is a big world to explore, so far, I have pretty much been dragged by the nose through a very linear path. Anytime you move to a new area, the old area is completely cut off. You might think "that's kind of normal early in an RPG", right? Sure, I can agree with that. But the way this is done is so jarring. More often than not, the mapping is permanently altered in order to prevent you from returning to an old area. This is done with no explanation, no comment about the blockage, and just acts like this is a completely normal occurrence. In a game that clearly has a lot of achievements that are "exploration based", this just feels punishing if you missed a small area or a chest that you just left, and it's been a few minutes since your last save. Yes, the game does occasionally warn you that you are about to leave an area, but even this feels out of place... Why even prevent you from going back? It just makes me feel cramped and that anything I do could result in me missing something before I'm ready to move on. A lot of people in the reviews seem to mention and enjoy the jokes and humor quite a bit. I personally think it is way overdone. Like I mentioned earlier, there seems to be a fairly deep story that is going to be fleshed out, making the constant jokes and odd fourth-walling-breaking references to feel REALLY cheesy and out of place. Sure, I like a lighthearted mood ever so often. Yea, it's nice having a comic relief character that you can reliably get a good chuckle out of here and there. But when the jokes happen every time you talk to someone, or every interactable object makes a joking reference to what it is, the humor start to fall flat. The game itself starts turning into the joke rather than a game with jokes in it, which is clearly not the intent here. Maybe I'm wrong here and this style of humor just isn't for me, but I maintain it is a bit overdone. I don't mean to be hurtful, and I hope this review is taken as constructive criticism. I really think there is something very good if not great here. It just needs a bit more polish, and a direction for the tone needs to be chosen. This game is certainly not a buggy mess by any means, and there clearly has been a lot of love put into it. With a bit more time and focus, I feel like this game will be great; it's just not quite there yet in my opinion.

Great Sound Effects, Music, and Storyline I recommend it for a 2D free RPG game!
Großartige Story, interessante, teilweise abgedrehte (Tessa mit ihrem tierischen Begleiter Mr. Kitty) Charaktere, coole Musik und Soundeffekte.
My thoughts on completion of the game. Absolutely loved the journey, the character development was spot on, I laughed and i cried along the way and i can't wait for Andrews next game. He is a wonderful storyteller and is super responsive in discussion forum if any glitches or stumbling blocks are met along the way. I highly recommend this journey for any RPG players out there who love a good story, party based and turn based battles and a satisfactory conclusion.

The game wouldn't play it kept stopping every time I turn it on for a little while. But it's a game that I want to play cause it looks pretty good.
If you've never played an RPG before, this is a great place to start. It ticks the standard boxes and explains the gameplay very well for beginners. However, veterans are likely to find it dull because the story and gameplay lack any originality. It feels like a mish-mash of all the RPGs you've ever played before. It's also excessively easy, with full-heal points so frequent that you never need to use any items. This is great if you're playing while exhausted at bedtime and just want an easy ride, but if you're used to these games and looking for a challenge then it will be boringly easy. Some will appreciate the fourth-wall-breaking humour and culture references. For me, it spoilt the immersion and wasn't funny enough to be worth it. If you don't mind Shrek references in your high-fantasy RPGs, it might be your cup of tea. For a while I returned to the story each evening because it was an easy play, but it didn't sustain my interest and I've stopped halfway through Chapter 2. However, it's a generous free offering, so give it a go and see if you enjoy it.
