Kbyte es un plataformero con gráficos de 8 bits y 16 bits que nos embarca en un aventura a través de distintas épocas de los videojuegos, con una historia un tanto peculiar llena de humor. Es un juego de plataformeo puro a lo vieja escuela, cuenta con 2 personajes, Kbyte, el personaje principal que sencillamente solo brinca y un segundo personaje, Gbyte, que se desbloquea al pasar el juego el cual a diferencia de Kbyte no brinca si no que maneja su gravedad para hacerse camino por los obstáculos. Los niveles son relativamente cortos y fáciles, te puede tomar entre 20 - 40 segundos pasarlos, son un total de 103 diferentes repartidos en 9 mundos y un bonus level que es un mini-juego tipo Game & Watch. Además, el juego cuenta con 32 coleccionables los cuales puedes encontrar distribuidos entre los niveles de cada mundo. Gráficamente tiene un pixel art muy variado ya que maneja diseños en 8 bits y 16 bits, asemejándose visualmente a los de juegos de consolas retro, tan asi que incluso puedes notar que algunos diseños de niveles son muy parecido a los de juegos de sagas importante como Mario Bros., Super Metroid, Sonic entre otros. Música solo tenemos los clásicos chiptunes como los de NES, una banda sonora funcional y decente aunque hubiera estado genial tener la misma variedad acorde a lo gráfico. Controles están bien solo que se sienten diferentes con cada personaje, mientras que con Kbyte se siente como un movimiento más pesado como en los juegos de Sonic, con Gbyte se siente más ligero y responsivo como en un Mario. Si te gustan los juegos de plataforma Kbyte es un juego que vale la pena darle una oportunidad, es bonito, es entretenido y tiene un precio asequible.

I'm a bit confused as to why they felt the need to style each world after different retro consoles, but beyond that, Kbyte is a solid little platformer, with a good bit of replay value! Some levels are too easy and others you will die dozens of times, balance is all over the place. The game is not impossible is just try and error and is short which I was expecting. Not a bad game in any way and something that I completed in 90 min approx and I'm really bad this kind of platforms. In general for the prize I would wait until is on sales and make the prize more fit for the length of the game but in any case if you are interested I recommend it.

When I bought this game, it wasn't working properly, but then messaged the developers and they fiixed the problem. That sort of service alone is worth the support. UPDATE: Just finished the game. I got all achievements except the 100% achievement. I found that the second unlockable character, G-byte, was too difficult to maneuver. Even if that was intentional, it's really not my cup of tea. That being said, the rest of the game is excellent. The interlude animations are cute, and the final boss battle THANKFULLY avoids my least favorite cliche of boss battles (that is, you hit the boss once, then it comes back more difficult, then you hit it again, then it comes back more difficult. It DOESN'T do that, and I'm grateful for that.) The game is clean cut, and while some parts are difficult, I never felt it was punishing. I love how the game plays with aesthetics, fashioning the game after different platform styles. At 3 dollars, this game is certainly worth buying. On sale, it's definitely worth it. If you like platformers, give it a try.

I was Steam user for many years but it's my first review. And I just want to say that it's game is brilliant. Beautiful old-school graphics, enjoyable gameplay, good and clever humour. Absolutely recommended.

I'm still making my way through this game, but so far I am enjoying it. It's a decently challenging platformer with great visuals and music. Not the best platformer on steam but its still a very enjoyable game

I can't say I hated it or loved it, it's a 5/10 platformer. If you're into the retro platformer style of game, then give this a look, but only after most of the more well known titles.
