Enjoyment: 7/10
There's an online mode but I never tried it, so I'll only comment on the single-player content. The first thing I liked was the UI. The menu buttons and the visual novel segments UI all look great. The graphics are a little dated and the character models look kinda mid, but even so I felt the devs managed to nail the vibe and visual style well. The environments in particular are great with my personal favorites being the Ochanomizu Hijiribashi and Neo Nihonbashi maps. You can play as girls from 7 different schools, each one built around a common heroine archetype like ojousama, gyaru, shrine maidens, idols, and so on. Their personalities are pretty cliché since they're all pulled from the usual tropes, but it's still nice having that much variety. The customization is rather deep too, you can tweak both your jet machine and your character a good amount, and unlock more costumes and accessories as you play through the story. Gameplay honestly had a lot of potential but it lacked the polish needed to be fun. Drifting is janky as hell and impractical to use, you have to hold the weapon skill button to fire manually causing a delay that feels slow and clunky, and my biggest problem is that it's too easy. Once you've upgraded your machine parts a bit there's basically no challenge. It's a pity because it doesn't feel "fun" in the state it's in right now and could have been a lot better. The soundtrack is okay. It's not bad, it's just that nothing really stood out for me there. The story though was boring. After finishing the third school's story I gave up on reading and just ended up skipping through the remaining dialogue. However, there wasn't much else to do after clearing the story mode. You've got some quick mini-games to earn shop currency and you can race against the AI, but that's about it for single player. The achievements are very straightforward and it took me 10+ hours for 100% on the Steam Deck. At the very least, I'm grateful the devs didn't pad out my hours with grindy achievements like SSS-ing every story race or clearing all story missions. Это неплохая игра, но она быстро надоедает, и в ней недостаточно больших сисек.
Kandagawa Jet Girls is a fun mix of high-speed racing and a quirky, lighthearted story. The gameplay is fast and satisfying, with cool jet-powered races, but it can get a bit repetitive after a while. The character interactions and customization options keep things interesting, though. If you're into arcade-style racing and cute anime vibes, it’s definitely worth a try!
I dont honestly understand why i keep buying senran games, i really dont. i guess because theirs not a lot of good games on the market these days, but ill say straight out and with confidence this is my personal favorite one so far. it follows the standard senran style story mode, multiple "factions" to choose from to progress the story, each with their own personal style jet ski. lots of character customization as always, you can dress your character in a bikini and such or give them a full schoolgirl outfit. jetskis have custom colors and liveries you can purchase as you progress, speed upgrades. theirs minigames you can play outside of the jet racing, such as treadmill running and mopping floors. the racing isnt really terrible but i dont understand the drifting part. sometimes it just boosts me and i 360 into a wall. aside from that, and some of the tricks not functioning properly off the start unless you work on remapping them theirs not really that many issues and its a decent game, and fairly unique as idk offhand many other jetski racers with character and jetski customization to this degree. the tricks though arent really important because you can do atleast one that i have figured out so far which is right stick left, they all do the same thing, it just misses out on other trick animations. if you play tutorial also it will scuff you out because of this unless you manage to do it on MNK which i dont know what buttons they were telling me to press on the keyboard to do it, but you can pause the game in tutorial and move onto the next stage or tutorial, so you dont get hard stuck or rage quit trying to get it to somehow work, as the game wants you to do multiple tricks in order to progress the tutorial.
8/10 https://youtu.be/1t42n12YmUE?si=S096CNCKDNVtwXqE&t=5157
Came for the girls, stayed for the fun gameplay... I found out about this game through the anime (yes, for those not in the know, this was developed alongside an anime of the same name) and never expected to enjoy the game as much as I did. Although, to preface, I will say that I am rather easy to please. Anyway... The story is not really complex. It's comprised of six + one separate story arcs; six for the six pairs of girls from the anime, as well as one game-original pair. It follows the girls' daily lives and struggles and passion for the sport of Jet Racing (except the 1st one, the Asa-girls Arc, which is basically a soft retelling of the anime) in a fun and rather light-hearted way, presented in a visual novel-style format. It has no crazy depth or character moments - like I said, mostly light-hearted fun, with some occasional "yuri-ous" moments sprinkled here and there... The gameplay itself is rather unique, I would say - even within the racing game genre. As a player, you're in control of a futuristic jet ski and a pair of characters; a jetter and a shooter, whom you can alternate between. As the jetter, you're in full control of your jet ski and as the shooter, your job is to break obstacles scattered on the course, or blast and slow down your opponents (either AI-controlled or other players in online mode). The core gameplay loop and the jet ski controls - when to steer, brake, drift etc. - are easy to learn, but can be a challenge to fully master and utilize to their fullest. That said, once you figure things out, the gameplay becomes a breeze - that is to say, really easy, sometimes too easy. I had to handicap myself by not upgrading the machines (more about that later) during story mode. Each pair of girls has their own jet ski, which all have their own unique attributes and stats, making all feel a bit different while playing. Outside of the storymode, the game has also has a free race and time attack modes, as well as online mode and 3 different minigames, which - while not difficult - offer a nice little break from racing. The game has a total of 8 different courses with 2 different times of the day and a total of 3 different routes. All have their own features and obstacles, offering varying levels of difficulty; some have a lot of corners, some have long straights, some have ramps and so on... All courses have nice, unique scenery and their own little challenges. The game also has full character customization - from skin and eye color to hair, clothes, or accessories, to which you can unlock items by either completing special challenges during races, or buying with points rewarded by races and minigames. The best part about the customization is that once you unlock an item, you can use it on everyone. On the downside though, nearly all items have reskins, which must be bought separately. Race points are also used to buy upgrades for the jet skis, improving their stats and in-game behavior. I should note that the upgrade prices skyrocket fast and require some amount of grind. There's also a handful of decals and skins for the machines that do nothing but alter their appearance. The BGM and music isn't anything groundbreaking, but it fits the tone of the game. Story moments usually have lighter music and races heavier or more intense tracks - of course, the music also depends on what's happening on the screen or what course is being played, as each have their own tracks. I will say, however, that at least for me, a couple of the tracks have become quite the earworms... All in all, the game is a unique and fun spin on the jet ski/wave racing genre, presented in a cute anime-style. What it boils down to is basically "cute girls doing cute things - jet ski racing edition." It certainly won't be for everyone, as it is a very niche product, and that's ok. I personally really enjoyed and continue to enjoy the hell out of it even despite all its shortcomings and flaws and I really hope this wasn't a one-and-done type of thing, and we'd get to see more with this IP someday... 9/10, would recommend; plus if you liked the game, I recommend checking out the anime if you haven't done that already...
I literally bought this because Ryona is in it. Put her in more games.
既可换装,亦可赛艇
Someone said Wave Race ..... yeah, not Wave Race. Controls on this is garbage. Drifting and control of the Jet Ski is plain awful. Tried to like it but I just can't.
No battery saving No clipping No yoyo-ing No artificial overtake ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Just pure racing
