So far I'm not particularly enjoying it but I haven't played it much yet. It seems the enemy ships can always hit me on any layer but I can't hit them. Power-Ups are scarce. The resolution issue could use improvement. It isn't very easy on the eyes and difficult to tell what is going on. I usually like games like this so it might just take a while getting used to it. I wonder if I have unlimited continues?
One of the best vertical STG in history.
One of the best Shmups I have played in a long time!!. It reminds me of 98-99 era of Arcade and PSX. From the sound effects and graphics... to the AWESOME soundtrack, your adrenaline will be pumping start to finish...Don't skip on this one! Fantastic job devs!!
Probably one of the best old school Shmups ever made. I play it almost every day. It's definitely cool to feel OP yet the game is still challenging enough to make you want to get better and 1cc.

Really franctic and challenging. The lock-on attack is awesome and I love how it ties to the scoring. It has great graphics and music. Recommended to every shmup lover out there!
Kamui. ALLTYNEX Second. RefleX. The history of both this game and its two counterparts, together forming a sublimely-crafted trilogy of JP shooters, is fascinating. I wonder what Siter Skain, the original JP indie team responsible for developing these in the late 90s, are up to now. Lots of comparisons to Rayforce and Layer Section, and that is understandable - just look at the ship, even. But the reason I like this game is that it took me right back to Soukyugurentai (or Terra Diver for some of you). That game became one of my favourite STG games and I think Kamui is actually closer to this in terms of cinematic presentation, music and satisfying explosion SFX. It is tight and a glimpse into an era of top-tier Japanese style shooters. They don't make them like this anymore. For anyone confused about the order in which to play the trilogy, for learning curve you can go Kamui > RefleX > ALLTYNEX Second (Kamui is the hardest to master and the others have a higher level of polish). This is the order in which they were chronologically developed, with Kamui being 1999. Reverse this order if you actually wish to experience the story in chronological order. ALLTYNEX is first in this regard. That is because it is technically a remake of the original ALLTYNEX released in 1997. Confused? For a while I was, too. The game shows its teeth by stage 3 and is out to to slap the yellow off your teeth, but it's a doable 1cc with some practice. Once you get past the initial 'what was I supposed to do about that BS?' and 'no idea what is going on here' thoughts, you'll be okay. You will. Because the game is so good it just tempts you right back into an abusive relationship you just can't escape, where a symphony of violence awaits you alongside much pleasure. One of the PC's greatest.
