The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries.
Mahtava suomi-peli. Hinta-Laatusuhde todella kova. Pitkästä aikaa peli jonka jaksoi pelata loppuun asti *Grafiikka 5/5 *Musiikki 5/5 *Pelattavuus 5/5 *Juoni 5/5 *Suomalaisuus 5/5
Fun :D
Beautiful looking and sounding game! Great music. Couple minor issues dropping through some platforms here and there. Also maybe the last boss could use a better health indicator to see that you're actually doing damage. Or maybe it was bugged, I don't know.
Perkele!
I really do enjoy a fun platformer. Be it a linear one or a metroidvania. Kalevania is a pretty unique one, a mostly linear platformer with the option to revisit levels if you have new abilities to look for hidden treasure. It's loosely based on the Kalevala, or Finnish mythologies recorded in the 19th century. Gameplay wise, it might resemble Shovel Knight somewhat, you control the old hero Väinämöinen who sets out to recover the Sampo (a mythical mcguffin) and find a bride. Along the way you'll obtain new weapons, spells and other equipment that expands what you can do in the game. You do not get the girl though. My thoughts Kalevania's a fun game, mostly. Controls could be a little tighter and the devs are a little too good at hiding things. The music is really fitting and the levels do look lovely in pixel art. Hitboxes and enemy AI are a bit... iffy at times. Later bosses especially seem like extra tanky evasion cannons. This does hurt the game somewhat. Worse, if you are about to lose your last life? Exit the stage, spend your copper. Losing all lives means losing all your money. Bosses don't respawn btw. On their own, it's just minor gripes, but together they keep Kalevania from becoming a smash hit like Shovel Knight. I'd still recommend it though, but be forewarned that it's not as polished.
An enjoyable run-and-jump Castlevania/Xanadu hybrid with a lot of charm and soul.
Jokusen kerran kokeillu ja ihan kivalta tuntunut kyllä. Toivottavasti fiilispystt loppuun saakka
Wish I could give neutral rating. Really basic action side-scroller (Think Castlevania) with Kalevala paint job (Which does make it instantly better for me at least) First few levels where really cool, but the farther you play, the less inspired and varied the levels become. Even the enemies are just enlarged versions of the old bad guys from first levels with colors changed. Lot of boss fights and all of them different, which is great. Buy from sale if you like side-scrollers and Finnish mythology.
