«Just a Jumping Square»
I don't mind a platformer being simple, specially when it costs one buck. But there are so many wrong things there: - Same kind of obstacle/gimmicks throughout all 33 levels. Single jump, try to avoid spikes and a kind of moving enemy, and wait for the moving platforms to come. - Cycles. Oh boy, I'm not sure if someone has tested this game before release, because it's impressive no one realized that you MUST wait some platforms for 30~ seconds in order to continue. It doesn't even matter if you go fast enough, the cycles are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and makes the stages super slow. - Difficulty curve. You barely feel any difficulty increase except the last few stages, it's a minor flaw but fixing it would have made the game less boring. - Backtracking. Most stages are basically running from one corner to the opposite one and coming back a couple times. So effectively you're seeing way less obstacles than a non-backtracking stage. It's the case for most of the stages. Some acceptable or good things to note: - Achievements. You earn half of them by completing the game and the other half by doing it dying less than 5 times. The problem is that there's 0 encouragement for the latter, since the game doesn't feel good enough. - The dev. In the previous version the controls were ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, but once I notified him in the forums he fixed it in a few hours. That's really cool. - Graphics/music. Yes, it's a really simple game, but it wasn't annoying in this regard. It was okay considering the price. The game would have been way better if it had 15 stages instead of 33 but made with some originality and love. For the dev: I know it must be one of your first games, but hopefully this review will help you and not only potential buyers.
