Johnny Mystery and The Halloween Killer

Nice soundtrack and art. Amazing characters! (wish the game was longer because of them) The game has a little of a Date Sim mechanic and I sincerely believed it would determine the flow of the story, but in my second run I found out it only changes the reward you win at the end. The route change is based on the dialog choices and the solution of the crime. To get the puzzle solved, I had to literally use pen and paper. At first it seemed a bad way to implement the logic problem in the game design, but it can be forgiven by the way the story presents it to the player. I end up thinking of using pen and paper at the final scene as a smart low budget way of the game breaking the fourth wall. The game freezes sometimes. I got it 3 times in 2 runs. Doesn't crash the game, but I had to reload my save. I recommend anyone to save frequently. 8/10 - OK to pay full price.

[h1] Genre [/h1] Eine Murder Mystery Visual Novel [h1] Story [/h1] Wir spielen den Privat Ermittler Johnny Mystery und machen gerade einen Spaziergang und treffen auf eine Junge Frau namens Anna die gerade auf der Flucht vor der Polizei ist weil sie angeblich eine andere Frau umgebracht haben soll aber sie sagt sie sei Unschuldig. Wir glauben ihr erst einmal und versuchen den Fall zu lösen [h1] Gameplay [/h1] Wir lesen uns natürlich ganz Genre üblich durch die doch recht kurze Story. Hin und wieder treffen wir auch Entscheidungen die uns Plus Punkte bei den Einzelnen Damen geben kann (immer +10) aber man hat keine Stat Übersicht darüber. Man merkt das dies das Erste Spiel des/der Entwickler ist. Es gibt einige kleine Übersetzungsfehler in den Texten und ich hatte an 2 Stellen auch Freezes. Das Spiel ging einfach nicht weiter, man konnte nur noch das Spiel laden oder beenden. Heißt man sollte auf jeden Fall oft abspeichern. man hat hier wohl auch versucht eine Art Romance Option einzubauen was aber scheinbar nicht richtig geklappt hat. gegen Ende des Spiels soll man einige Indizien zusammen fügen aber ich konnte dort nichts anklicken außer weiter und es war dann so als ob es von alleine gelöst wurde (keine Ahnung ob man es überhaupt lösen konnte oder man wirklich nur weiter klicken musste oder es war ein Bug). Die Charakter Sprites sehen sehr gut aus und auch die Musik ist gut gelungen [h1] Pro/Contra [/h1] + Gute Story + Günstig + Spannend + Nette Charakter Sprites + Gute Musik + Die End CGs sehen auch sehr gut aus +/- Leider keine Achievements - Einige Bugs (Es gab an 2 Stellen im Spiel einen Freeze Bug wodurch man das Spiel nur noch laden oder beenden konnte) - Einige kleine Übersetzungs Fehler in den Texten (aber nicht weiter schlimm) [h1] Fazit [/h1] Also für den kleinen Preis bekommt man ein kurzes aber doch gutes Murder Mystery Visual Novel geboten. Klar nerven die Freeze Bugs aber wenn man des öfteren abspeichert ist das kein Großes Problem. zudem kann man ja bereits gelesene Texte auch skippen. Man hätte hier mehr zeit investieren müssen weil die Charakter Sprites, die End CGs, die Musik und auch die Charaktere selbst allesamt sehr gut sind. Ich hätte gerne noch mehr Zeit im Spiel verbracht besonders wenn es eine vernünftige Romance Option mit Routes geben könnte, das wäre nicht schlecht gewesen. Oder mehrere Episoden mit verschiedenen Fällen das wäre auch sehr cool gewesen aber vielleicht wird der/die Entwickler/in ja nochmal das Visual Novel Genre anfassen und sogar aus dem selben Spiele Universum was her zaubern, würde mir auf jeden Fall sehr gefallen. And now let me explain why I do not recommend this game !IN ITS CURRENT STATE!. (I naively hope for future improvements and updates, eh). The good parts: - The artstyle. - The writing. - The characters. The bad parts: - Everything technical; the game terminates is you press ESC, certain buttons are impossible to interact with during the playthrough, the music blares like a military alarm and cannot be switched on/off properly, interacting with the notes is such a pain in the butt... and that's only the beginning of the list. - The translation; some parts of it are quite acceptable and thumbs-up-worthy, while others feel like they've been machine-translated or something like that. That's a bit sad V_V So yeah. You can get the game anyways since it's cheap and all, but I really hope there'll be future improvements down the road. The concept itself is definitely nice. (plus I do require more of the waifus, ahem...)

Engaging story and nice soundtrack. Very cheap, worth every cent. And IT'S FUN!

Jogo bacana, tem uma história legal, assim como as artes, e é fácil, em 3 horas dá pra liberar tudo. Enfim, recomendado para que gosta do estilo. Contudo, o jogo às vezes trava, então é melhor ir salvando o progresso de tempos em tempos. :-)

This game stopped working at the same point two times. I thought the first time it stopped working was a fluke, so I made a new game, but the second game stopped working at the same spot :/

Great game with an intriguing and pleasant story. The characters are well designed and the dialogues are intelligent and fun. Music and art are excellent, and in general the game is surprisingly much better than you can imagine at first sight. Also, the price in unbeatable! Recommended for everyone that likes a good detective story.
