Solid, relatively short western-themed puzzle game. Depending on how it's played Jessie 'Boom' James will take you anywhere from two to five hours to complete. Six puzzles total, with variations from roughly 60 to 600 pieces. The game controls fine but you'll probably find the soundtrack grating after 15 minutes or less, like most other puzzle titles on here. Bonus points for being able to save progress and return later. Worth picking up when bundled. Strong suggestion to *not* play flippable pieces with chess mode as that's just pure migraine material lol
Severely broken game. Had problems multiple times with save games in hardest and second hardest (chess and normal). In addition unable to investigate what is going in the save file because the json is encrypted, so editing the json file does not work - like can be done in "Daylife in Japan." In addition - if you zoomed in - it would sometimes hang loosing your progress completely. Sad because I rather liked the puzzles and the theme. One positive thing to note: I was able to get all the achievements with the lower complexity, non-problematic puzzles. Old Review: Fun jigsaw puzzle with a wild west theme, where you can connect pieces to each other as well as to frame. In this case there are 6 puzzles with 2 different styles and 4 different sizes for each. The 2 styles are somewhat chess shaped pieces and "normal" jigsaw pieces.
Warning: Asset Flip!
Jessie 'Boom' James - a jigsaw chess tale is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", Minimol Games, took a template from the godawful GameMaker Studio from YoyoGames, slapped a couple of asset flipped sprites on it, and dumped the results onto Steam as a cash grab scam. Minimol Games has shown a repeated pattern of ripping off Unity templates and dumping them on Steam. Don't believe me? Here's some other asset flips from exactly the same template, all shamelessly dumped on Steam as nasty cash grabs:

"Shinobi's Way - a jigsaw chess tale", copy + pasted from the same template by Minimol Games
"Daylife in Japan - Pixel Art Jigsaw Puzzle", copy + pasted from the same template by Minimol Games
Look for yourself... these are all reskins of exactly the same game! The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Jessie 'Boom' James - a jigsaw chess tale" is just a basic Unity jigsaw puzzle template, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so a copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips are an insult to both PC gamers and to professional game developers who create genuine, high quality PC games. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have. They make it harder for gamers to find genuine games made by honest developers. To cement the position of this asset flip as nothing but a cash grab, it was dumped onto cheap DailyIndieGame shovelware bundles very shortly after launch. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from Minimol Games.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear almost immediately after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this review manipulation.
Cute pictures (I'm still on the first one) I chose max # pieces 580 in the new 'chess piece' cut with no picture shown. Wow, it is actually a challenge! No traditional edge pieces! I love it My main problem with most OTHER jigsaw games I've played is that even on their max difficulty they are way too easy some don't even let you choose not to see the picture in advance. Here the story tickles my funny bone so far. My only complaint is the music got on my nerves after about 3 repeats (it's a cheesy b-western movie theme) but I muted it and am playing my own play list to relax with. They have some nice touches like a sorting drawer and dark mode. I Love it cause it is quite difficult and for under $2 I know I'll get my monies worth! If you like easier you can opt to see the picture, use way fewer pieces, have traditional cut pieces and highlight edge pieces.
Jigsaw puzzle game based on Chess Knights: High Noon. Four difficulties (number of pieces) for each puzzle. Pretty much all there is to say.
I like 👍 this game it hard but good time waster
Cool idea in mixing chess and jigsaw puzzle, really interesting and entertaining. The illustrations are beautiful!
Started a 500-piece puzzle with rotation on... Immediately had a piece snap to the wrong side of another piece, impossible to take them apart, puzzle ruined. Good thing it was two edge pieces so I could tell right away...
✨ A cheap game to kill time. Chess mode is interesting. ✨
A great puzzle game from the Chess Knights series. The illustrations are beautiful and the soundtrack goes perfectly with the game. I am enjoying it very much and recommend it!
