About
Jenny's Adventure is a 2D platformer where you guide Jenny, a cat, through an interconnected world of biomes. Use abilities like wall jumps and sprints while managing stamina to explore and collect flowers. Focused on platforming and discovery, it offers a relaxing, combat-free experience.
Exploration: With a heavy emphasis on exploration and discovery, Jenny's Adventures is a metroidvania filled with unlockable abilities and secrets. Find your way to the summit using your curiosity as the guide.
It features an interconnected world with different biomes. Uncover a world with areas like forests and beaches. Use your skills to tackle several platforming puzzles to find the path to an area.
Jumping: Jenny's Adventures uses a slightly different approach to jumping which is commonly seen in traditional platformers. Player needs to hold the jump button and then release it. If the player releases in a specific window, it results in a 'perfect jump' which increases the jump height.
Game also features a stamina system. Some abilities like sprinting consumes stamina which can be refilled by collecting flowers or perfect jumps.
Amazing game, looking like developer poured in his heart into the game.
Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
Jenny's Adventures is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This utterly garbage tier platformer, apart from being made with disgusting AI slop, has you controlling Jenny, the cat, navigating a 2D environment. The game uses platforming mechanics, including jumping (with a specific button-hold release mechanic for "perfect jumps"), wall-sliding, and sprinting (with a stamina mechanic)... all of which is done really badly and in the clunkiest way possible. What should we expect from a developer so incapable and out of touch they think it's okay to foist disgusting AI slop on gamers. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off. The use of AI slop is an insult to gamers, content creators, and ethical game developers, and cannot be tolerated.

Dude. The update is so good. I love that you added the co-op mode. The jumping mechanic makes perfect sense now. Very intuitive.
Pros: You play as a cat and you get to meow. Cons: The controls are incredibly janky, despite suggesting use of a controller for an optimal experience. No settings are available in or out of game to adjust your deadzone, which causes the cat to slide around for no reason. These problems are compounded by abilities that rely almost solely on your joystick input. Speaking of settings, you can turn the music or sound effects on and off. There is no in-between and those are ALL of the settings. Does not include ability to switch to windowed mode or change resolution. What it also doesn't include is the ability to exit the game without using Alt-F4 or Task Manager. The map is an okay size, but there's no real sense of exploration. You're a cat running between extremely blocky areas trying to find such groundbreaking abilities as *checks notes* zooming the camera slightly out or ...zooming the camera a tiny bit further out. And while there are collectibles in the game, the flowers advertised by the creator are not really collectibles. You pick them up, yes, but the game doesn't keep track of them and they're only used for a stamina system that's entirely useless. There ARE collectibles that aren't advertised. Namely colored gems scattered near random pillars. However, collecting them all does absolutely nothing. And once you've collected all of the gems and "upgrades," you can scale the "mountain" to find ....nothing. There's nothing up there. The creator put the Indian flag up there, presumably out of national pride, but this game isn't something to be proud of. It's incomplete, has poorly implemented ideas, and despite the low graphic quality, still manages to have fps glitches. On top of all of this, the creator is using AI art, which inherently steals from actual artists in its creation. Something that my review will have, that the game doesn't, is an ending. Because when you're finished reading this, you won't have to Alt-F4 to be done. Also, you probably didn't lose an hour of your life reading this. Don't download this game.
The jump is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Unfortunately that is the only positive surprise to be had here. The performance is a bit stuttery because the dev made the mistake of using unity instead of godot for making the game. Furthermore, there are far too many bugs, including with the controls. I ultimately got softlocked and that was when I decided to drop this. I recommend playing Ascent DX instead if you're looking for a good free metroidvania.
