Это великая игра! Диз я ставлю исключительно за наплевательское отношение к классике. Я не понимаю, как можно продавать просто нерабочий билд? Вам куча фанатов, сделают это бесплатно, чтобы всё работало из коробки. Но издатель говорит: "Нам плевать! Сами качайте патчи, решения, оптимизации, а мы будем зарабатывать по 12 баксов с айтема". Гениальный план!

One of the best games ever made, but it will not run on modern machines unless you use a compatibility wrapper such as cnc-ddraw. cnc-ddraw is an open source project downloadable from github that gives you a ddraw.dll to drop into the same folder as the game's executable, so that Windows will use it instead of the global dll. This resolves two show-stoppers in JA2: 1. The game freezing on a black screen the moment it's started. The game is unable to detect that the codec to play the intro video is unavailable. This issue can also be fixed by deleting Data\Intro.slf 2. The game freezing on alt-tab. Run cnc-ddraw config.exe and config "Presentation: Borderless" and "Maintain aspect ratio". JA2 Stracciatella also works, but the only part of Stracciatella I care about is provided more simply by cnc-ddraw. Other compatibility wrappers exist as well. "1.13" is not a community patch but an overhaul (a dishonestly named one IMO). It makes radical changes to the core game, for example allowing silencers to be attached to sniper rifles (it is akin to Horn of the Abyss in Heroes of Might and Magic III).

A wonderful game, I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. It's just a pity that it's not currently remastered to fit modern resolutions and sometimes it even requires specific fixes just to launch it at all. Fortunately, there are great mods like 1.13 that come to the rescue, breathing new life into it and extending the fun.
