Dear Reader,
I realised, 82 hours in, that my prior reviews have been dishonest, incorrect, or borderline disrespectful. To recompense for my actions, I have written a more clear, accurate, and improved review for the masses to read, evaluate, and take in whether or not this game is for them.
The game under discussion today is Island Maurader. A game, granted, that isn’t my most played game; however, I feel that after playing for 82 hours, I am entitled to be able to give the most accurate type of review.
This game is an action-adventure game where you play as an unnamed character. The game follows your quest as you try to achieve the end of the level. I won’t spoil too much, but the end of the game is more than just a “congratulations, you did it” type of thing. The entire game is a lot more metaphorical and requires a complex understanding to get the full message. It may take a couple of playthroughs to fully understand.
The game has a variety of dynamics and gameplay choices that feel enjoyable and rewarding. Each section of the game explores new concepts, and each new concept feels refreshing.
This game has been recommended to many of my friends, who have been left speechless by the quality and passion that’s gone into this game. I can happily say this is one of my favourite games, if not my favourite on Steam.
I would recommend trying the game even for a couple of hours; since it’s free, it wouldn’t hurt to try. Most of the fans stay hopeful for a remake, but if not, I am hoping modders could fill in that gap. For now, there is plenty of gameplay with plenty of fun to be made.
Overall, the game is 100% worth playing, and I hope many more people give their honest opinions on this great game, to one day see it reach overwhelmingly positive on Steam.
