its certainly not what i was hoping for from this game, it's very much a rogue like and the survival mode is very punishing. if you die that's it, you lose it all and have to start back at square one. no loading a save, and not only that the loot is completely random. one of my deaths yielded a bunch of rocks for loot instead of say a crowbar, rope, scrap metal, med kit, etc. what am I gonna do with 10 rocks against large carnivores and killer herbivores? It takes way to long to recover as well when you die. Not only that you need to be tech savvy-ish to even get the game running if you have new hardware. So basically the game wont run on new hardware without some techy tricks. all that being said with the game no longer getting updates i cant recommend it. unless you enjoy rogue likes and can get the game running on new hardware.
As the game stands, its not worth it in 2023.The devs have abandoned it for some time and and it hasn't received any updates in years leaving it in a half finished state. The concept for the game is great, an immersive survival game set on a dinosaur island but it's becoming outdated quickly and hasn't aged well. If your looking for a half fished game with a great concept but meh execution, or just trying to fill out a vr library, this is for you but otherwise don't bother.
It was incredibly promising, especially for the time it was released! I mean, come on! It's a game where you shoot DINOSAURS on an ISLAND! I spent a giant chunk of my early days with VR playing this game, and I have very fond memories of finally getting over my fear of the larger dinosaurs to the point I could EASILY kill them from a rather sizable distance away. So why is this a negative review? They stopped updating it. This wouldn't be a terrible thing in and of itself, but they never stated WHY they did, or give out any information about the future of the game, they just abandoned it. The worst part is that I can't even PLAY it anymore, as there isn't any support at ALL for the Valve Index, which I upgraded to from a Rift CV1. So this beauty of a game is just sitting in my library, and I can't even play it anymore. Thanks Cloudgate, very cool. (Note: Just to clarify, the last update for the game was on July 13th of 2018. It has been 4 years since anything about the game has been touched on by the Devs.)
Good job making dinosaurs dull and boring

Great idea for a game, but just doesn't have the polish for me to recommend. Def makes you just when Raptors come running up on you out of the bushes, but the physics and gun mechanics are lacking. Guns feel like toys. If they spent a bit more time on this, it could have been a gem. Too bad.
This game sucks they have not updated it in 4 months, the devs need to stop being lazy and on top of that you can't play the game for 5 minutes without it crashing. other people have had the same problem so it's not my PC because I put everything on low. I don't recommend this game to anyone for 20$ when it's at this state. Just Pick the game back up and fix it.
I played Carnivores which was one of my favorite mobile games ever (based on the 90’s game). All I could think of is how good it would be in VR. And this is everything I dreamed it would be. Clubbing compies is hilarious. Using holographics and lasers to hunt raptors is amazing. I really hope they add multiplayer sessions where you could play with friends!

It's not an awful game, but it has a lot of bugs and a lot of issues. Disclaimer: I only played the Mercenary mode. Let's start with one of the obvious ones for me. To use health items, you bring them to your face. Personally, when I'm playing VR games, I have a headset on my face. Collisions will happen. Next up, to store ammunition, you drag it over your back. To store anything else, you pull your backpack from your back, then bring it out front, and put things in it. Which you can do with ammo boxes, which doesn't add them to your ammo count. There are two "storage" areas on your chest, but theyre really, incredibly close to the viewpoint. Essentially, if you look "down" you'll be nearly looking down your neck instead of bending your head forward, making it very hard to see those items. Storing items is a bit tedious. Sometimes you put your whole hand in the area, sometimes you don't, sometimes it catches, sometimes the item drops through the floor never to be seen again. Bow and arrow is kinda cool, but trying to pull your backpack out while it's equipped is awkward because you pull arrows from over your shoulder as well. Dinosaurs clip through things, sometimes. I got attacked through the floor of a building once. Oh, and sometimes if you're on the helicopter at the end of the mission, the game decides you didn't actually do that mission and skips back to the starting area without giving you your rewards. Which brings me to the final issue. This game is a GRIND. The gameplay gets repetitive and you basically have to play for hours and hours before you get anything other than a pistol or a bow and arrow. 60 minutes got me 500 "coins" because of the aforementioned bugs. It takes, I think, 24000 to buy an AK. Oh, and the graphics. I'm sorry, but in bright daylight, one single tree isn't going to block so much sun that you can barely see the ground. All the colors feel desaturated and "gritty". It's not bad for a VR game, but I think it can get a lot better.
