Ok at first I thought this game was dumb and the graphics sucked, because all you do is stand in a really small cave with floating rocks in it that will break apart if you hit them. So I quit the game and didn't think any more about it. Then I saw on reddit someone said this game is going to be awesome, and someone agreed after they realized you can break the walls of your cave. I was like whaaa???? So i go home and fire it back up. First thing I do is hit the cave wall, just once. Err. Mah. Gerd. Mind completely blown. I cannot WAIT until the full game is released now. Freakin EPIC!
Game constantly springs back and forth between the vr console and itself every time a rock gets smashed. Poorly optimized my computer should be more than enough to handle this demo i7-6700k OC @4.6ghz 16GB ddr4 ram GTX 1080 OC @2.1mhz all on a samsung SSD its rated in the 99th percentile of personal computers there shouldnt be anything this rig cant play

WOW! This is one of those "Yea, VR IS REAL" experiences. I had tremendous fun in the 10 minutes I spent in this demo. I look forward to the full game. Note, VR games should not encourage the player to smash upwards, I have whacked my low-profile overhead light and ceiling many times. I hope HTC starts selling replacement controllers soon! ;)
Played On: HTC Vive
Irrational Exuberance: Prologue is, what can best be described as, an abstract experience. It comes with no tutorial, and it lets the player figure out how to proceed with the gameplay. As it's abstract, it's difficult to explain the game itself, but it does take place somewhere in the cosmos. As some people have deemed it appropriate to leave a negative review based on this, here's a hint for anyone who may consider playing this title;
break stuff
. Just be aware of your surroundings, as I found myself hitting walls in my 2mx2m room-scale space. As beautiful and other-worldy as this title may be, the entire experience is extensively hindered and ruined due to performance issues that have gone unaddressed since launch (April 2016). Problems such as stuttering, freezing, crashing, and pulling up loading screen every few seconds. Having played this on an i7-6700k/GTX 1080/16GB DDR4 3000Hz RAM combo PC, the problems that I experienced are inexcusable, and it's even more worrisome that the developer hasn't even so much as acknowledged the existence of performance issues. Apparently, all issues are caused by leaving asynchonous and interleaved reprojections on, but of course disabling them requires a full Steam restart; to say the least, a real inconvenience while in VR. While Irrational Exuberance: Prologue has a unique concept behind it, and suffice it to say that you'll never play another game on Steam quite like it, the unaddressed performance issues severely hold it back. The lack of developer response is even more scathing. It can be fun once you figure out what to do, and the visuals are stunning. However, if you're going to venture to play this 5 minute teaser, make sure to turn off both asynchonous and interleaved reprojections before getting all of your gear on. Due to the aforementioned problems, I cannot recommend this experience. Developer, if you fix this title, please leave a comment and I will re-review accordingly. THIS IS AMAZING I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie, in my life I rode lots of rollercoasters, went house running, went sky diving... nothing I ever did was as terrifyingly awesome as this short demo, no joke. I started the game knowing nothing at all about it, didn't even see a picture. I had no idea what's coming up, and boy did it take me by by surprise. It wasn't until the fourth play-through that I could keep my cool. Like others mentioned, this demo is very well suited as an introduction to VR because the controls are so simple and yet it's such a convincing experience.
unplayable :( i have a really good pc, and it crashes everytime
It was pretty enthralling being at the precipice of a rock in the midst of outer space. I wasn't encountering any issues breaking apart the small asteroid, but about 30 seconds to a minute into the experience it began to stutter between my VR console and the experience. Pretty unsettling. Also when there was a transition this same stuttering would occur. Looking forward to when this will be fixed.
Irrational Exuberance is the most tantalizing experience on the Vive so far, showcasing the Vives tech (VR+motion controllers) in a fully immersive AAA scifi experience of something completely out of this world. I call it an experience, because its not a game (there are no gamified interactions, no objectives to meet, etc), you simply interact with your environment, and enjoy the scenery. The graphics are clear and stylised which works excellent on the Vives limited screen resolution, but the truly astounding feature is the physics. You can smash rocks, push crystals, etc and everything moves perfectly. Its really simple, but its incredibly wonderous. And its free. And when the full experience/game comes out I will be buying it immediately. Quick edit: Actually, if I had one criticism its that it only lasts 5 minutes (literally), you get involuntarily teleported into the next reality far too soon. I wish I could pick when to transition, so I could play in each space till I was sated. Buffalo Vision, could you please make it so we need to step into the portal/activate something to continue?
