Passive touch damage in melee-heavy or only games is annoying. Add onto that when the melee attacks lead into the enemy's position. It even happens when the enemies are stunned... like bruh.
It is fun and kind of addictive. Go and play this!

This is so much fun!! The combo system is cool -- since enemies don't drop gems if finished with the laser, you have to pick up one less than is needed to finish them, then finish with the sword. It leads to some interesting decision making, since I might still want to insta-kill certain enemies in the interest of time or survival. It was cute to see how each enemy type is a nod to HD. The game plays totally different from Hyper Demon obviously but I'd place it in the hyper-demonic genre of focused arcade games with airtight, deterministic mechanics leading to non black-and-white split second decisions, comboing, and flow state. It's refreshing, because lately it feels almost like HD is so good it ruined other videogames for me lol.

Irradiant is a game that can be perfectly summed up as a game with a good concept, but poor execution. This game has really good potential assuming it fixes the issues that are presented in this game. There are numerous things that I noticed that were absolutely horrible to deal with while playing the game that I believe needs to be changed, and just in case the developer of the game reads this, I'll list a few of the more notable ones as a means to help improve the game. First off, the steam achievements are way ridiculously difficult. I mean, they are absolutely some of the most difficult achievements I've seen. Don't be fooled by the percentages on the achievements, because nearly all players who have these achievements used some method of cheating to get them. For example, the 700 score achievement. This achievement is said to have been achieved by around 7% of players as the time I'm writing this, but if you look on the leader boards, only 2 players have even achieved this score. Only 2 people out of hundreds if not thousands of people achieved this legitimately. The steam achievements desperately need to be toned down by a large margin. Achievements are not meant to be difficult to the point where only the literal world best can get them. However, this is a comparatively minor issue as this doesn't have anything to do with the actual game play. Now, I could go on for multiple paragraphs on the small issues I've noticed in the gameplay, but I'll stick to the major ones. First off, the fact that enemies that are stunned can kill you makes absolutely no sense to me. Clearly, this is by design, but it really just doesn't make sense to have a run ended by a completely stunned enemy falling from the sky and not being able to dodge it, maybe that's just on me, but I really don't think it's a good design choice. Another major issue I've noticed is that the hitboxes are really awful. I have died on at least 100 separate occasions at this point during my short time playing this game because the hitboxes are just wildly inaccurate. Not only are they unforgiving, they also extend past the visual hitbox from the enemy. I have died without touching the enemy far too many times and is a massive issue for a game such as this. An additional huge flaw that this game presents is the inputs. For a fast paced game, my inputs have way too much delay. I find my inputs not going through far too many times. I'm unsure if this is because of the engine or what, but it is a major flaw for such a fast paced game and has costed me just as many runs as the hitboxes has. A few other issues that I won't really go into detail about include the lack of vertical mobility, the horrible default controls, the horrible enemy spawn locations, and some additional issues that aren't severe enough to mention. Overall, this game has really good potential in my eyes, but it needs some serious work before it can be called a good game. At the moment, this game has way too many issues for me to recommend it, and it's simply too frustrating to try and play around these issues.
