I loved this game and enjoy playing it with my friends or even random people or alone. This game is a great vr game and after playing 15 hours I decided to leave a review so other people can know whats good about this game. The first thing is the combat and what I have to say about it, is that it is great and there are many different paths or types weapons making the game different each time with the bows, wands and melee weapons all having different play styles for each run. The level up system is a great way to get stronger after each encounter and the archon runs are a blast with your friends. I play through an oculus quest 2 and it runs fine. I give this game a solid 9/10 and with future updates I hope it gets better.
Works on Reverb G2. Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. IRONSTRIKE is a spiritual successor to Ironlights mixed with Until You Fall. It is fun, but not as replayable and polished as the latter. Physical melee combat is satisfying: it changes Ironlights formula by dropping out slo-mo and merging defensive and offensive phases to get much faster pacing. The game dodges the usual for VR arenas issue of AI not being able to properly block or parry, by simply not trying to do it at all. Every enemy goes into full berserk mode and constantly attacks, leaving parrying to the player. Ranged combat does not feel as good as melee: enemies are too spongy and not interesting to aim at. Perk progression during run is impactful: like in the best rogue-likes it is possible to create completely overpowered combinations. Weapon choices are a bit limited and luck based: you get 3 starting melee weapons and can upgrade them or switch to only 2 random other ones in first levels. In 5+ hours of playing I've never saw a scythe and got a rapier (that I really wanted to use as it was my main in Ironlights) only once. Boss variety is very low: it is basically only enemies with heavy two-handed weapons. Would have been nice to see some dual wielding or more agile enemies also. I've tried an online coop mode once, it was ok. Open lobby was found pretty quickly, and another player was not a screaming child, which was surprising for a Quest crossplay. Visuals are overall bland, but skyboxes and backgrounds are impressive.
It's really fun! The only issue I notice is stuttering/ghosting on objects and players when walking. At 80 or 90Hz, the it's further apart, while at 120 and 144Hz, it's faster and more noticeable. Great game otherwise!
Hella fun game and a good workout. I be sore af after a long session and its so worth it. So much fun to play with friends and I love the challenge. HIGHLY recommend getting the game.
The combat is fun and but the Ranged Abilities are SUPER fun would 100% recommend using the Wand, Bow and Crossbow
Goated in both solo and multiplayer gameplay
