It's a fun game with a huge range of different states it can fall into based on your actions. Where some games present you a few paths and you are locked into one once you chose it, here you can change your mind on the fly or just be kind of corrupt ^^ Fun concept. Very solid implementation. Awesome Job, Curious Bird!
It's a fun game, able to replay a couple times to get different endings. Initially it was a lil much, getting bombarded day after day w new features but once you settle into it, it gets really fun. For all my playthrough, I never ran into money problem so accepting of quests was never really pushed onto me 'cept in the first few days. Having complete freedom to choose (w/o the company pushing a certain agenda) was really fresh. One down point for me is that the day passed by too soon.
Don't take the 'No' at face value, it's just not a game for me. Clearly there was an honest attempt to put pushing special interests through the lens of an influencing organization instead of a government agency like in Orwell, and its successor Orwell: Ignorance is Strength, but maybe that's why I didn't get as much affect from the game. 'Crunch time' apparently starts about halfway through the game rather than at the 75% or 80% mark, and so the urgency of my discretion and neatness sort of fell through. In the end, I basically started pushing random articles and leaking various documents to different outlets to see just how big of a maelstrom I could conjure and destroy the status quo that I was meant to uphold. The game clearly wasn't prepared for that mentally and railroaded me to the 'Status Quo' ending. Fitting. I guess I wish I never played other propaganda games so I could have enjoyed this one the most.
It's a good mini-game, not a sandbox. It's a "decision-tree" based game with a lot of "branches" (decision->results). By the time I reviewed this, they got about 4-5 scenario ending with its own objectives. Worth your while, got immersed about 1.5 hours in, but get reset when the final review came in and the game is over. As I said, at first I thought this game is a sandbox where you build up your career with infinite use-cases, but I was wrong. In the middle of the game, as developers I just found out that every hashtags, topics and corporation just a set piece with their own fixed scenarios. It would be a nice immersive game if anyone could turn this game into a sandbox where you can get infinite scenarios and auto-generated hashtags as you play along. So yeah, basically this game is a "decision-tree" game, you move along until you finish it. The thrill is there are some conditions that you should keep to make the game going. Recommended to kill some free time for those who loves text driven game. Treat this as a mini-game from Democracy 4.
Realistic dark comedy about influencing society through media. This is a strategy game, not a business sim, there are no upgrades and the money is essentially irrelevant. Fun and addicting gameplay, you'll be able to tell if you'll enjoy the game or not within the two hour refund window easily. After the first playthrough I did a second one immediately to try things different ways and get different endings. It takes about an hour a game, maybe closer to half an hour after your first two playthroughs. 5 possible endings and a few hidden achievements. It would be nice to see some more content in terms of other scenarios with different missions.
Pretty good but, overall, counter-intuitive gameplay. There's little guidance on whether or not what you're investigating with the compromiser is going to dig anything up, resulting in wasted time and irritation. Why not add a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ option to sav IN-GAME to avoid the tedium of restarting it all over again? Not fun, overall.
Influence, Inc. is a neatly designed game that brings awareness to modern day issues such as propaganda and extreme influence via marketing. The game is not only exciting, but helps real people such as myself understand and identify real issues in the real world. It's like watching a documentary about Cambridge Analytica, except that you play it as the villain, thus understanding the scale of the problems you can generate by propaganda and influence management. I really cannot recommend it enough!
Influence Inc is more than just a simulation game--it's something to experience. The game draws you in easily, but quickly grows in scope as you confront unexpectedly moving choices. Most of all, it's extremely relevant to our world today. I learned some new things about the world and myself... all while having fun ;)
Influence, Inc. is a very unique gaming experience that propels you in the middle of a mediatic war of influence as a corporation shaping what content emerges in social media. While players looking for a fast-paced and dynamic adventure or those searching for dazzling graphics will not be drawn to the game, this is not the main appeal of this polished and well-researched game. Content-wise, while it took me some time to get into it, I quickly became hooked by the content and the gameplay loop. The setting and core story of the game felt relatable and engaging. The cycle of rising and falling trends of social media was so aptly done that it felt genuine and realistic. I also particularly appreciated the many details and humorous notes found throughout the trends; they made each new loop rewarding. But to me what is the greatest strength of the game is its uncanniness: because every event has parallels with real life, the plot of the game felt both real and terrifying. A bit like the anthology series “Black Mirror” or the recent smash hit “Don’t Look Up”, the situations depicted are exaggerated but realistic enough to be plausible. This places the game in a sort of uncanny valley where we can recognise events, characters and trends but see them as slightly distorted. This makes the immorality of some of the company’s action both enjoyable and disturbing. In spite of some simplifications, many of the methods the game highlights (strategically leaking info, manufacturing virality, criticising scientific research to preserve profit…) remain eerily close to real life practices. All in all, I think Influence, Inc is an excellent game that is designed at a timely moment. It really captures the Zeitgeist of political communication in the 21st century. Special mention to the developer who went out of her way to ask for the feedback of scholars and experts to make sure her game was well-written, and who implemented many changes to come up with this fantastic version on launch,
Influence.Inc is great! It is thoughtful and well-researched, but also just entertaining and getting you into the flow! It allows you to experiment with what kind of influencer you want to be and while it has ideas about the world, it makes it possible for you to discover yourself what is going on. Also: The hacker is awesome! After playing, I now want one right here in real life!
