this game. I mean, I don't think that the execution is bad. the execution of this is way too good. which is why you probably shouldn't be wasting your time on this. there's some really rancid thoughts in this, and while there's, like, I guess, MARGINAL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ character growth, it feels like just reading the 4chan blog the main character is frequenting. it delivers what is said on the tin. it is indeed incel syndrome. please do not continue past this. I suffered together with a friend for FIVE CONSECUTIVE HOURS. please do not even attempt. it is so not worth your time, just read genuine scientific articles on incels, or maybe even just go online for once. you'll see enough people like this in real life. you do not need to play an entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ manifesto on them. thank you for your time. PLEASE BE SMARTER THAN ME AND DO NOT INDULGE YOUR CURIOSITY. YOU WILL DIE LIKE THE CAT. AND THERE IS NO SATISFACTION TO BE FOUND TO BRING YOU BACK.
Incel Syndrome is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through somewhat mediocre text, like reading a bad book, but in a less digestible format. This e-book was slapped together with the godawfully bad RenPy Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit, so no professional game development took place, it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit. Usually I'll go on about how E-books are just dumped on Steam because the authors are so bad at writing that real book publishers would take out a restraining order if they ever read their garbage penmanship, and that's by and large the truth, but here, this E-book/non-game is an art exhibition that's been dumped on Steam, presumably because the local art galleries (instead of the book publishers) took out a restraining order on the "artists" who had no other choice but to pay Valve $100 to dump this on Steam. The game approaches the concept of "incelism" from a quasi-satirical point of view, and this is where I have to say the writing is better than most of the trash E-books that get dumped on Steam. That doesn't make this suddenly a game, or anything that was developed with gamers in mind... and I feel like I need to remind everyone, this is Steam, which is for video games. Not for art or for E-books, or for E-book artworks. So whatever the quality of this might be, it's still an E-book. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. You can get better quality books and comics for free online or from public libraries, or from bookstores for a fraction of the price of this "game". Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games. This is free on Steam, but it's free because it's not really a game, it's an art exhibition/E-book. There's plenty of great local galleries and public libraries in every city that would offer a far better experience than this. And because it's not a game, it's impossible to recommend to gamers, who are presumably on Steam, looking for video games to play, not books to read.
this is a horrible horrible visual novel, i can not recommend it highly enough
MÜKEMMEL
don't let the bad reviews fool you. the writing is good, although a bit repetitive. it's a nice short story, the artwork is minimalistic but good. I'd be willing to spend five bucks or so for a sequel.
