Very interesting short game. Absolutely worth it.

Not recommended - some fool was too stupid to implement keyboard movement. Who the hell thought that making your pointer - that you need for moving anywhere, to be the only way to deal damage. How about making the sphere of light the EventListener for damage collisions. But no, it had to be as awful as possible. DO NOT: tie your damage to removing your mobility. That makes things anti-fun. People do not like committing to an attack - most people are not some divorce kids playing Souls games on triple hardcore alone. Also, there is a disgusting delay to the movement inputs. That makes dodging spikes and enemies practically impossible. It turns the into massive micromanagementfest where you focus 90 % of your attention on countering the input delay and minimizing unintended, LETHAL movement. F-in riveting stuff right there. Speaking of dying, you have to go through the same tutorial stuff every time you die. Modern games have realized that forcing the players to replay parts and requiring them to spend time getting back to where they were will make them quit. Stuff like that makes it seem like the developer does not play its own game. That old stuff gets old FAST. This game is barely functional as a game. It is clearly not properly developed or tested.
The game's got an intriguing premise with clear effort seen through how the levels, enemies and music changes alongside the mechanisms, but it's held back by the controls and how the current combat system is configured, which the mouse-only limitation severly impedes how you fight in a sluggish way. Due to this, the Instant Kill Death Orb is simply indispensable, since without it you'll be force to get close to aggressive enemies while simultaneously dodging their attacks, which distances yourself from the enemies, and thus, prevent them from being in range. So yeah, it's cool on paper but execution-wise it's not good.
So, overall, I really like this game. I love the concept of progression meaning I have to relinquish an ability or immunity, gaining mortality as I descend. I love the music and the art, from the glyphs to the angelic designs transitioning to forest and lions/wolves/humans being what attacks me. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll be able to finish the game. Other reviews have pointed this out - while I'm pretty used to dealing with mouse only controls, and have been able to make it work for most of the game....once the only option left is to get rid of your 'Death Touch' ability, I have hit a huge wall. As the motion needed to deal damage also moves your character nearer to enemies, it basically ensures you take damage continuously as you attack - and since most enemies are faster, or able to jump further than you, if they can't outright fly/shoot projectiles, getting away from an enemy after attacking is also pretty hard. I'm going to keep plugging at it and trying to finish, see if I can find a way to actually make it work without Death Touch, and overall I've still enjoyed this game plenty - The concept, the presentation are all fantastic, and it's fairly short, enough that I've come back to it a few times, and each time I've gotten further. I might even finish it one day, but even if I don't, I'm glad I played!
