Hypnospace Outlaw is a '90s internet simulator in which you scour Hypnospace's wide variety of weird and wonderful websites to hunt down wrongdoers, while also keeping an eye on your inbox, avoiding viruses and adware, and downloading a plethora of apps that may or may not be useful.
As part of your job as a Hypnospace Enforcer, you'll be watching out for copyright infringement, internet bullying and more, with reports and rewards coming direct from the Hypnospace Patrol Department to your inbox. In your spare time, you can customize your HypnOS desktop however you see fit, with a variety of downloads, wallpapers, screen savers and helper bots to keep you company.

Игрушка с уникальным визуальным стилем и оригинальным геймплеем. В роли модератора сайтов игроку предстоит раскрывать "дела" о нарушениях пользователями правил о недопущении булинга, нарушении копирайта и прочего. Придумана занятная "операционная система" гипноОС с разным софтом и фенечками. Очень подробно и красочно сделаны десятки личных сайтов, от любительских до профессиональных в стиле 1990-х, с развитием историй их владельцев. И все бы ничего, но уже спустя несколько "дел" сначала становится все менее понятным, что делать, а потом геймплей превращается в тягомотину (например, чтобы попасть на один скрытый сайт, приходится раз за разом читать вопросы "квиза", и потом искать на сайтах ответы). Я не смог себя заставить пройти до конца.

Divertido. É legal encontrar sites aleatórios escondidos e também ler sites de pessoas diferentes, até parece que elas são reais e que eu estou em alguma espécie de Wayback Machine vendo como era a internet a até uns anos atrás. A parte ruim é que é muita leitura e como esse jogo dificilmente ganharia tradução acaba cansando muito rápido ficar lendo tantos textos em inglês por isso não fui muito fundo no jogo, muito também por conta da falta de mais mecânicas no jogo, acaba sendo muita repetição, mesmo que o principal em si seja a procura por sites especificos.

Hypnospace Outlaw is a humorous yet very sincere recreation of pre-Y2K internet culture and aesthetics, packed full of unique art, music, and writing everywhere you look. (Especially the music, gosh!) The puzzles can be tricky if you don't pay attention to the little details - but as a result feel super rewarding to solve. Be prepared to spend a lot of time reading every piece of text you come across and don't forget to take advantage of the search function! Most of the story comes from getting familiar with the characters, which makes for a pretty emotional finale. I very much vibe with the way the game reflects the depths inherent in people, and how you can only every get a glimpse of their entirety in casual online interactions. And even with the humor and subtle horrors taking center stage, the overall message about the power of creativity, community, and compassion really stood out to me.
Fun game, especially for those who enjoy online detective style searching. I loved how the game didn't hold my hand! Also, I appreciate the 90's vibe <3
this one is reminding me that Steam needs like an "Other" or "Neutral" rating or something... pastiche is really difficult to do well and Hypnospace Outlaw succeeds at being great pastiche of both Y2K-era internet aesthetics and a wide range of musical genres and sub-genres. it's pretty funny and the story is like a 3-star episode of Black Mirror. but I would also say that Hypnospace Outlaw feels more like an art project than a proper game. or more generously, it's more like a really complex narrative game. do not expect gameplay in the traditional sense I'm happy I experienced it but would be disappointed if I bought it expecting to play a game rather than poke through a visual novel
