About
Welcome to Horror Nightmare Collection, a series of short, retro-style horror games that aim to spook you with unique experiences. Horror is simple at its core; you don't need fancy budgets or high-tech stuff. All it takes is a raw idea and the guts to make it happen.
Some games here focus on horror and tension. You'll face different stories, each pulling you into dark twists and forcing you to confront creepy creatures. This collection keeps growing, bringing more horror games with various gameplay styles and different stories. From messing with your mind in psychological horror to cringe-worthy grotesque body horror, we've got it all.
Already in the collection are eight unnerving games:

Forsaken Prison:
Awaken in a forgotten prison with a cryptic note guiding your escape. Unravel grim discoveries, help a desperate fellow prisoner, and explore dark corridors with secrets waiting to be uncovered. A flashlight leads you to a numbered cell, revealing a nightmarish transformation. Each revelation raises questions about the enigmatic nature of the forsaken prison.

Paul’s Lost Remains:
Wake up to a horrifying scream in the middle of the night. Your friend Paul is missing, and the forest holds a gruesome secret. Can you collect and assemble his remains on a cross in the center of the forest? Test your nerves and challenge your sanity in this short horror game.

Evil Crow:
You are stranded in a rural area with a broken car and no help in sight. In this first-person horror game, you have to explore a barn and a tunnel system, and collect tools. You will also witness a dark ritual involving a pentagram that unleashes a terrifying enemy that will hunt you down.

Haunted Mine:
Haunted Mine is a horror game that puts you in the shoes of a demolition expert who is hired to destroy an old mine. You have no clue who your employer is or what their motive is, but you don't bother to ask. You just want to finish your task and collect your reward. But as you venture deeper into the mine, you discover that something is terribly wrong. The mine is not abandoned. It is alive. And it is watching you.

Terror Gnome:
You, a young child, is sent on a simple task by your mother: gather flowers from the nearby woods. But a terrorizing gnome is causing trouble along the way. Will the child succeed, or will things take a different turn?

Port To Hell:
Port to Hell is an indie first-person shooter-horror game where you play as a scientist who has just completed a teleportation portal. Attempting to teleport to Paris, you find yourself instead in a dark dungeon. The portal you used to enter this realm is now non-functional, leaving you stranded. Face enemies like zombies, hellish dogs, and skeleton spiders as you seek a way back home. Uncover the force behind your misdirected teleportation and fight to survive against overwhelming odds.

Terminal Flesh:
Terminal Flesh is a first-person horror game that blends exploration, combat, and surreal body horror. As a terminal patient undergoing a procedure, you find yourself trapped between reality and a living nightmare. While doctors fight to save your life in a hospital room, your mind descends into a grotesque world of flesh, veins, organs, and tumors.

Deep SOUP:
Deep Soup is a surreal, soup-like exploration game. Each room contains one unique object. When you get close to it, you can interact to move on to the next room.
Stay tuned for more nightmares are on the way as our collection continues to grow!

A collection of retro horror games. Currently there are six short, but the developer seems to add more games over time, which I like!
i cant skip dialogue
You get what you pay for. The 3 games that initially came with this collection were too bare. BUT! The dev has added 3 games since then, and they seem to be improving with each. The latest addition, Port Hell, is the best game in the collection. Which isn't saying much right now, but I'm hopeful that by the 10th game they say they're aiming to make for this, they'll have made something that shines.
Horror Nightmare Collection by NanningsGames is a retro-inspired horror anthology that offers players a variety of unsettling tales wrapped in a pixelated, nostalgic art style. Released in early access, the game presents multiple standalone stories that each delve into different facets of horror, from psychological dread to outright grotesque encounters. At an affordable price point, the collection is designed to be accessible to both newcomers and seasoned fans of indie horror, providing bite-sized experiences that emphasize atmosphere and storytelling over complex mechanics. The current build features six distinct narratives, each with its own unique setting and premise. One of the stories, Forsaken Prison, places players in the shoes of someone awakening in an abandoned penitentiary, where cryptic notes and eerie surroundings build a sense of dread as you explore. Another tale, Terror Gnome, revolves around a child sent to collect flowers who stumbles upon a sinister gnome lurking in the woods, blending childhood innocence with creeping menace. Port To Hell follows a scientist trapped in a nightmarish realm after a teleportation experiment goes awry, facing monstrous entities in a dungeon-like environment. These varied scenarios ensure that the anthology maintains a diverse approach to horror, catering to different tastes and moods within the genre. Gameplay focuses primarily on exploration and immersion, with players encouraged to carefully navigate environments filled with subtle clues and hidden threats. The simplicity of controls and mechanics allows the narrative and atmosphere to shine, creating tension through environmental storytelling rather than fast-paced action. The retro pixel art style enhances the unsettling tone by invoking a sense of nostalgia while leaving much to the imagination, which can often be more effective in horror. The sound design complements this by using ambient noises and sudden audio cues to keep players on edge without relying heavily on jump scares. Despite being in early access, the game has garnered a mostly positive reception from the community. Players appreciate the variety in storytelling and the effort to create distinct moods in each segment of the collection. The inclusion of multiple language options, such as English, Spanish, Dutch, and Chinese, broadens the game’s appeal to an international audience, making it accessible to a wider player base. That said, some users have pointed out areas that need refinement, particularly regarding the depth of the stories and polish in certain segments. These critiques highlight the potential for the collection to grow into a more substantial and polished experience as development continues. Overall, Horror Nightmare Collection is a promising indie horror anthology that leans into its retro aesthetic and varied storytelling to deliver engaging and atmospheric horror vignettes. While it is still a work in progress, the game’s focus on mood, exploration, and diverse narratives positions it well to attract fans of indie horror looking for something that offers both nostalgia and fresh scares. Future updates and expansions have the potential to enrich the experience further, making it a title worth keeping an eye on for those interested in horror games with a classic yet innovative twist. Rating: 6/10
cool game
Let's Play! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp8aDecNxlo&t=3s -- I sincerely liked the games, a bit WTF sometimes lol but fun to play, good atmospheres, good graphics, frankly for the price it's really interesting! I hope there will be more! Let's Play! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp8aDecNxlo&t=3s
Port of Hell was the only one worth playing in the collection, and even then it felt more like a prototype concept than a finished game. The last game was added back in June 2024, so I’d presume that’s as far as the dev plans to take it. They published a Christmas-themed standalone game recently that could have easily been included here, especially given its 30-minute length, but like I said, for what it's worth, it isn't worth the price.
