Remember that time you released a free product that was amazing in the epic store and then stripped all the good features with an update? I dooooo

Love this engine, and the demo does so much to explain how to use it. For those saying "this demo sucks", its not a demo for an actual game diptwads, its a demo for a free project that this wonderful person has bestowed upon us! WORSHIP THEM!!!

The engine itself and its' features are impressive, the game looks great and ran smoothly, some of the achievements are fun to get and for free, even as someone who doesn't play horror games, this is a no-brainer. ....or so I thought, until I had to restart the demo level mutliple times due to events not triggering, me getting softlocked and the following general confusion about whether me not progressing any further is part of the puzzle or another bug on the game's side. There are no jumpscares with scary faces or actual "things" hunting you, instead there's pretty absorbing sound design and a goofy, ghostly entity that was impossible to take serious. I had fun playing this while streaming to a commenting friend, but I would've regretted spending money on it and the only horror came from anticipation and the surroundings, not because there's any clever horror at display here. If everything would've worked like it should then I would've been mainly impressed by how many high quality assets and features are out there for free for horror devs to use; but precisely because it DIDN'T work like it should it instead - and quite ironically - points out all the more how much effort and talent it takes to craft an immersive experience where one doesn't have to think about sequence breaks or what the game wants me to do right now. I loved everything I was able to play, but I got stuck in the demo level due to a glitch (I think). The first time the creepy soul shows up, it just immediately kills me when walking into a room, even when I can't see it. Other than this, a great demonstration. EDIT: I was wrong about what I thought was a glitch. I was just confused. You have to stare at a painting while holding middle mouse button. FINAL RATING: 8 / 10
