Hoops VR

Better than I expected, and something that I certainly will be playing again with friends to challenge each others scores. Actually quite a decent fun VR 'arcade' game. Obviously it's not a deep strategy game that you're going to spend 100s of hours playing, but it does a good job of being what it is. Physics seem good; bounces, angles, and gravity all seeme to behave. Trash and paper airplanes are okay, but I can't see myself going back to play them much. The hoops on the other hand - will be played - esp, if friends beat my scores. Which bring up something missing... challenges. Leader boards are one thing, and having friends challenge for scores is also good. But, I think the addition of some unlocks for beating scores would certainly add to the solo-play longevity of the game. Obvious ideas for unlocks would be different balls, wrist bands, controller models, ... lots of possibilties there, I think. Devs?? :-) Overall - thumbs up for a fun, but not deep, basketball shooting game. As mentioned in other reviews - if you enjoy arcade basketball (the real one, not digital), then you'll probably like this too.

Simple concept, fun little game

This is a great little game useful for showing off the headset. The airplane mode is also cool.

Kinda fun for what it is (a basketball shooting mini-game), don't expect a lot of replay value. I got it on sale, it has acheivements, I'd say it's worth it if you can get it for a couple bucks.

It's sooooo cheap! Why are you even thinking about it? I spend more on an ice cream cone or a slice of pizza with toppings... Plain and simple. Must have.

good game

This feels like a very stripped down single player NBA Jam game from the 90s. It must be the sound effects and color palet as the game play is quite different. That said got a big wave of nestalga for the arcades of the 90's playing. I think $7 might be a bit much for the amount of content, though most of it feels well polished. This would be a buy on sale for me.

First, the positives: - It's basketball - It's VR - There's Easy & Hard mode, so casual & challenging times - Garbage Time lets you shoot trash in garbage cans - Another mode let's you throw paper airplanes through rings - It does seem to follow a natural shot motion pretty well, and works with other throws/tosses - There are leaderboards, both on Steam it appears and personal - You can establish a rhythm with your shot, and with bad VR mechanics I don't think that would be possible Now, the negatives: - The heel of the rim I don't think a single time has let a ball roll forward into the hoop. I understand my shot physics are at play in that, but it's pretty unfriendly how it interacts with the ball - I'm pretty sure fire effects have an effect on the ball as well making it more challenging to get into the hoop. I could be wrong, but it feels like it at times like the flames are colliding - It's definitely a park rim IYKYK - The tire iron in the garbage mode I don't think ever went in a can, breaking any streak I was on at the time - Missed opportunity for moving rims around while shooting, but then again... with these rims it probably wasn't going to happen to begin with For $6 you could certainly get worse, but I'd say I was entertained enough. Never too frustrated with the game's lack of polish but I couldn't help but sigh every time my ball rolled off the back of the hoop. Recommended with caution and for Achievement players. Getting 50 high score in Hard is tough, but I think it can be done for 100%
