Home is Where One Starts... is a short, first-person exploration game in the same vein as Dear Esther or Gone Home. It’s a story about childhood, hope, and the miracle of memory. You play as a little girl from a broken home somewhere in the American South.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
I'm glad I got it for free because there is no way I would have paid for it. Dear Ester was very profound and meaningful whereas this game was simple and just nice. It isn't bad, its pretty but its depth is just so small. Still, its good to play an artistic game from time to time but this should have been a free demo. No one should have to pay for this game, it just isn't worth it.

Just a wonderful poetic experience!
i was trying to figure out how to break the lock for ages
Sehr schönes Spiel, tolle Atmosphäre. Leider sehr, sehr kurz. Aber es hat sich gelohnt. Würde gerne mehr Spiele dieser Art spielen.
IT WAS SO GOOD AND SO SAD, I LOVED IT SM!
Wonderfully made story. I hope we get to see more of this character outside of this game and The First Tree.
Great audio, visuals and storyline, but overall, found the game very boring. Used a walkthgough to get all achievements, just to avoid a replay of this game.
