HoloCure - Save the Fans!

I played this game for probably 30 hours before ever touching vampire survivors. When I did finally play that game, I quickly realized that it didn't hold up for me gameplay-wise compared to this game. A must recommend for any HoloLive fan and really anyone who knows what a Vtuber is. Even if you just like the genre, this game is a masterclass in it. An additional note is that all of these hours were on steamdeck (non OLED) and it runs perfectly on it.

One of the best survival roguelikes I've ever played

very solid

HoloCure surprised me with how much content it offers for a completely free game. The pixel art looks great, the soundtrack is enjoyable, and there are plenty of characters, weapons, and upgrades to unlock. The gameplay is heavily inspired by survivor-like games such as Vampire Survivors, but it adds its own identity through unique character abilities and extra activities like fishing, farming, and the Holohouse mode. The main reason I gave it a 7/10 instead of a higher score is that the gameplay can become repetitive after a while. Most runs follow a similar pattern, and the progression starts to feel grindy once the novelty wears off. Players who aren't interested in Hololive or VTuber references may also find some of the charm lost on them. That said, HoloCure is still a very polished and content-rich free game. Even if you're not a Hololive fan, it's worth trying if you enjoy roguelites, bullet-heaven games, or chasing overpowered builds. For a free fan-made project, it's genuinely impressive. Final Score: 7/10
