I bought a gold version of this game via a Steam code because I learnt there were more unique challenges for the Hitman 2 missions than in World Of Assassination. What I did not know was there is no longer any way to access the missions from the first game as the legacy pack can't be purchased anymore and there is no more purchasable codes for the legacy pack. On top of never being able to get 100%, this added an extra challenge as you won't be able to access all of the very useful items from the first game like Sieger 300 Ghost, Krugermeier, Breaching Charge and Disposable Scrambler. So the start of the game had a pretty brutal difficulty curve. I completed the first two missions that I had already completed in WOA, before I progressed in the story and left a lot of challenges alone until I could unlock better items. Had to think through what locations were most important to work up the mastery on through escalations and challenges. As I got more items everything went more smoothly, though it was slightly more challenging than it could have been that none of my weapons were subsonic. I ended up on 64% steam achievements after doing everything I could. All in all a fun ride, though frustrating that you can't fully complete the game and achievements.

Hitman 2 is a fascinating title because it essentially perfected the "murder sandbox" formula established by its predecessor. If you look at the general consensus, it is widely viewed as a refinement rather than a revolution, but that refinement is exactly what makes it such a beloved entry in the series. The core of the game is its level design, and this is where it truly shines. You are dropped into massive, intricate locations like a chaotic supercar race in Miami or the dense, labyrinthine streets of Mumbai. The game encourages you to treat every mission like a clockwork diorama. You spend your first run just observing, then the second run experimenting, and by the tenth, you are pulling off complex "Silent Assassin" runs that make you feel like a master orchestrator. The ability to carry items in the new briefcase added a layer of strategic freedom that players absolutely adore, allowing for much more creative sniper setups and gadget management. However, the game is not without its flaws, and the community is very honest about them. The overarching story is arguably the weakest link. It is presented through static, low-budget cutscenes that feel disconnected from the actual gameplay. While the individual mission stories are full of dark humor and personality, the plot tying them together is often described as tedious or simply forgettable. Most players agree that you should treat Agent 47 as a globe-trotting mercenary on disconnected hits rather than trying to follow the main narrative thread. There are also valid technical and design criticisms. Some of the older maps from the first game, if you import them, can suffer from performance hiccups or feel slightly less optimized than the new ones. Additionally, some players felt that the number of maps—five massive ones plus a smaller opening mission—was a bit light compared to the 2016 entry, though the density of content per map largely makes up for it. The game also relies heavily on an online connection for certain features, which can be frustrating if your internet drops or if the servers are having a bad day. The verdict is that Hitman 2 is a masterpiece of game design for those who enjoy patience, experimentation, and "thinking deadly." It is not a traditional action game where you sprint through corridors shooting everything in sight. If you do that, you will likely find the game clunky or punishing. But if you embrace its identity as a puzzle game where you are the primary tool for solving the "how," it provides an incredible amount of replayability. It remains a high-water mark for the stealth-sandbox genre, even if the cinematic storytelling leaves quite a bit to be desired.
You come into a level looking to clear it like a professional. You leave a level, killing every target with fish and heat seeking briefcases.
Why did they remove the DLCS? I get they wanted to move all their stuff to World of Assasination, but nowyou have to...just deal with not being able to play this game and making it obsolete, giving you the game for free and letting you play two tutorial missions is a joke, DO NOT BUY/GET THIS GAME, GET HITMAN WORLD OF ASSASINATION INSTEAD, IT INCLUDES ALL HITMAN CHAPTERS (INCLUDING HITMAN 2)
great gameplay and storyline
