Experienced on the Oculus Rift
This is really 2 educational experiences about the history of Bruges. The main one is a guided, on-rails narrated cinematic experience. You're basically transported into different scenes of the journey starting from out to sea going into Bruges. Whole thing is about 10 minutes long. You can interact with some objects. The physics are surprisingly pretty good on the items you can pick up. However, you only see your motion controllers on the Oculus Rift (versus the avatar hands seen on the store page video / screenshots). The other experience is more focused on the history with a brief audio tidbit on the location. This is a more static experience as you're no longer on rails. You're free to look around at the locale. On the Oculus Rift, I could not pick up any objects in this mode, except for the archery. Yes, in one of the scenes, you can get a bow & arrow and shoot at targets. It works surprisingly well, but it's just static targets. Please be warned that you have to click down on your joystick and press trigger to make menu selections in this section of the game. You then have to manually exit and restart at the end of each scene. This really makes the experience a bit frustrating. I only paid 79 cents USD during a Steam sale. I think it's worth it for that price. Not sure it's worth the $7.99 USD normal price though. The graphics are good considering how old this title is. It's running on the Unity Engine. [b]Rate 6/10. stupid
This really is basically an Epcot ride in VR. It is short, yes, but I was rather taken by it. People with kids older than 5 or 6 would benefit from this format if it continues. Great way of learning. I think an hour long version of something like this would rock. There are a million historical subjects that could be easily adapted.
I really wanted to enjoy this experience because I believe that VR can make history really fun to learn, and I appreciate the effort. But the ugly textures, empty places, lack of interactivity, and shortness don't make it worth the price.
This experience (I have no better word for it) was one of the things that inspired me to get a Samsung Mixed Reality headset. (I was very reluctant as I was concerned with motion sickness, but have felt no ill effects, FYI...) All I can say is that while very short, this is an absolutely amazing experience (there I go again)! I love historical games and this is like a dream come true to be so immersed in a historical environment like this! I only hope that some day soon, there will be full games made like this that very interactive! This is mind boggling!
12 minutes. C'est sympatôche, mais... 12 minutes. Un bateau, une barque, une barque, un bâtiment, le beffroi et... 12 minutes. Et puis la cathédrale et un tableau. Et fini. 12 minutes.
Too expensiv for a 10 Min Game. Its Ok for 2016, but today a bit unpolished.
Despite its age it still shows one of the main use cases of VR, well executed for VR newcomers. I guess this was shown at some exhibit in Bruges. I enjoy on rails experiences that expose you to historical places. It is short. If you're like me who favors immersion over interactive elements, you might enjoy this too.
This is pretty good. I played it on an oculus quest 2 wirelessly, with roomscale boundary. You can't use the controllers to move, but you can use them to make menu choices, and move around by actually walking. If you like historical VR experiences this one is pretty cool, with great graphics, and interesting history.
For the full price? Definitely not worth it. For the .79€ I paid for it in 90% discount? Why not. A piece of history, clunkily made for VR into a short but enjoyable educational journey through Bruges.
