It is mostly a Hidden Object Game but also a Puzzler. 4 Locations are waiting for you and in each Location you have to find all Turtle "Pieces", remember, they are halfed. You have for example to click on Object to reveal them. Or click 3 Times on dirt on the Floor to reveal it. HIDDEN TURTLE PUZZLE is a Little Surprise for me, because at first i thought it was a simple Hidden Object Game. It isn´t. It is very clever and you also need a little bit Patience. Graphically, the game is quite demanding, and the first launch takes a little longer while all the shaders are compiled. Fortunately, you can tweak a few settings to reduce the strain on your hardware. One feature I really appreciated is the accessibility support for color blindness. The game includes several versions of the familiar circle tests with hidden numbers, making it easy to check which type of color blindness you might have, but this might not help much. The gameplay revolves around searching for objects across four different screens. That doesn't provide a huge amount of content since you can finish all of them in just a few minutes. However, while the main objective is to find turtles, there are plenty of optional collectibles that require much more patience. There isn't a traditional checklist, but the achievements tab tells you exactly what still needs to be found. Each stage has around 7-8 achievements, and while some collectibles appear only once, others have multiple copies scattered throughout the scene. Finding every turtle unlocks a puzzle where you arrange pieces to complete a pattern. Solving it opens the next stage, but you can always return to previous areas to search for anything you missed. Thankfully, your progress is saved, so anything you've already found stays collected. You never have to replay an entire stage just because you decided to come back later. The challenge comes from two key mechanics. The first one is enjoyable because many objects react when you click on them. They might move aside, disappear, or reveal something hidden underneath, like piles of sand covering a collectible. You can also pick up keys that go into your inventory and use them later to unlock chests. Unfortunately, the second mechanic takes away a lot of that fun because the camera and zoom system are simply frustrating. Although the environments have a convincing sense of depth, you cannot move around the scene at all. The only way to get a closer look is by using the zoom feature or finding a magnifying glass that opens a close up view of a specific area. The close up views work well enough, but the zoom feature is almost useless. You have no control over its strength since there is only a single zoom level, and pressing the button again immediately returns the camera to its default position. The zoom also changes depending on where you click, and certain objects are only visible if you happen to click in exactly the right spot. There is no indication that anything is hidden there, so discovering these areas comes down almost entirely to luck. As a result, I often found myself clicking randomly across the screen, hoping to stumble upon an object that was impossible to see from the default view. This becomes especially frustrating with distant collectibles that are little more than tiny pixels. Sadly, it also exposes some technical issues. The second stage, for example, has a broken achievement for collecting all the idols. There is also a book that always appears after opening a chest. Oddly enough, if you leave the stage and return several times, collecting that same book repeatedly continues to increase the achievement counter as though it were a new collectible, although this eventually stops working. Apart from the turtles, which have a hint that highlights the general area where they are hidden, none of the other collectibles offer any assistance. Some are so incredibly small that they are practically impossible to spot. No accessibility feature can solve that problem. In the end, the only reliable strategy is blind clicking, and that quickly turns what should have been a relaxing hidden object game into an exercise in frustration.
