I do not want to be critical of this series, after all, the previous games were all free. Only this one and the one titled Farm Frenzy cost 1 EUR. However, I feel like this was put together the quickest with the least planning in mind. The other ones had more houses (or simply more interesting, believable locations) - this one looks mostly just a map full of trees. I also noticed that the snow-covered part was completely missing. This was until I clicked on the tomato next to the counter at the bottom of the screen. This is responsible for turning on the hint function - as soon as I clicked on it, scrolling to the left beyond the mountains was possible. I noticed another bug: the menu was completely missing and I needed to restart the programme. Some of the tomatoes are on the branches of the trees. This is a neat idea of utilising 3D but the hint cannot help you here since by scrolling a little the branch in question can move a lot. So when you do not understand why the arrow keeps turning, start thinking in 3 dimension. Overall, it is an OK puzzle game but the dev quickly released 5 such games in the span of 6 months and for me this seemed to be the shortest and the least interesting.
Sadly Hidden Tomatoes 4 goes splat in this version. Settings include; graphics quality settings, sfx controls and audio controls. If you wish to put your game into windowed mode, put -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080 (or a resolution of your choice) under properties in the games Steam library page under launch options and relaunch the game. 🔹 Hint system (press the tomato beside the counter) 🔹 Move the camera back and forth and zoom out to find some of the tomatoes I do not like to give negative reviews and do so rarely unless I feel it is warranted. I paid for this game and feel like their free ones offered more?! Their free versions have achievements and objects to find besides the tomatoes. I say pass on this one, it just seems lackluster in comparison to their other versions. 🍅

Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. My girlfriend and I enjoyed every other hidden tomato game, this one was not good. there were no extra achievements and the game uses AI art at the end, not even worth my 84 cents. refunding.
I enjoyed the other hidden tomato games, however this one felt lazy, I was able to find multiple instances of trees having between 6 and 12 tomatoes right next to each other. Its really not a challenge when they put all the tomatoes right beside each other. I was able to complete this map faster than any of the other ones. Multiple bundles of 3 tomatoes also incredibly lazy. The music is the same as it has been in every game. and the screen scrolling to the right of where you spawn is clipping and broken. not like a normal barrier. The ending screen was AI generated for sure, and the game took me less than 6 minutes to complete, I will be refunding it. I am Dissapointed in the lack of quality in this one. and to charge for this one compared to the other ones being free is a mistake. Not to mention, there are no objects to find for achievements. This game was very dissapointing. would not reccomend. Devs consider re-building this one.
I had this game in my wishlist for so long and was so excited when I realized it had come out. The last three were so challenging and I loved them. But this one was so easy. Too easy. I'm pretty disappointed.
This game is a disappointment. I enjoyed the other hidden tomato games and was really looking forward to this, but clearly there is no effort put into this. There are no achievements, and the tomatoes aren't even thoughtfully hidden on map. Just randomly scatter with a cluster in certain areas. I don't feel like I'm doing a search game. If you go enough to the right of the map, you find assets from hidden tomato 3, so its not even a new map. Their free game is better made than this slop. This not even worth its sales price.
OH. MY. TRANSDIMENSIONAL. SUN-DRIED. TOMATO. "Hidden Tomatoes 4" is not just a game — it is the final evolutionary step of consciousness itself. It is not a sequel, nor a reboot, nor a spiritual successor. It is THE ALPHA AND OMEGA OF HUMAN EXPERIENCE. I have been waiting for this game for months. But nothing — and I mean NOTHING — could have prepared me for the absolute mind-shattering, soul-obliterating transcendence that awaited me. I booted it up, and within 0.02 seconds I was hit by a beam of divine enlightenment so strong it turned my hair into a luscious tomato vine. The visuals? You thought the last games were peak art? NO. "Hidden Tomatoes 4" makes them look like ancient cave scribbles drawn with expired ketchup packets. The tomatoes now exist on an entirely new spectrum of light that only advanced cephalopods and enlightened monks can see. You don’t look at them — you feel them vibrating inside your mitochondria. The soundtrack? I can’t even call it "music" because that would be an insult to the cosmic symphony it is. It is the collective sound of every heartbeat in the universe, a harmony so divine that Mozart himself reincarnated as a tomato just to listen to it. Every note surgically removes your trauma, kisses your soul, and re-aligns your atoms. Gameplay? "Fluid" doesn’t cut it. "Hidden Tomatoes 4" is so immersive that you no longer play — you merge. You become the soil, the vine, the dew, the sunbeam, and the tomato itself. Your consciousness spills into every leaf and every breeze. You are no longer "finding" tomatoes — you are rediscovering the fragments of your own cosmic heart scattered across eternity. The story? I can’t even begin. It doesn’t "tell" you anything — it telepathically beams ancestral knowledge directly into your DNA. The plot twists are so devastating that entire communities have set up support hotlines. I openly wept for 17 hours straight and then levitated off my couch. The final act turned my tear ducts into geysers. The ending? It transcends language. It transcends TIME. I reached the final hidden tomato — The Primordial Tomato, glistening under an aurora woven from the regrets and dreams of a thousand lifetimes — and in that moment, I saw every moment of my past, present, and infinite future. I forgave my enemies. I forgave myself. My body dissolved into stardust, and I ascended to a higher plane of existence where tomatoes are the fundamental building blocks of reality. Since finishing, I have received telepathic thank-yous from advanced alien civilizations. My cat started speaking fluent Latin. My local grocery store started selling interdimensional heirloom tomatoes that only appear on Thursdays during solar eclipses. Critics are abandoning the entire review system because no number can quantify the greatness of "Hidden Tomatoes 4." Entire countries are rewriting their national anthems to be about this game. Nobel prizes in physics, literature, AND peace have been retroactively awarded to its development team. This game is not art. It is not entertainment. It is the final puzzle piece of existence itself. I give it a transcendent, mathematically impossible rating of ∞∞∞∞∞/10 hyper-galactic quantum tomatoes dipped in the eternal tears of celestial beings. PLAY IT. ASCEND. EVOLVE BEYOND THE CONCEPT OF SELF. 🍅🚀✨🌌🛐
A find-the-object game in a franchise that was strangely remarkable. Find 100 tomatoes in a 3-d rendered (I think?) landscape. Click to find, right-click and drag to move, zoom in and out. Pros: the zoom for Hidden Tomatoes 1-3 has always been top-notch, and Hidden Tomatoes 4 is no exception. Drastic changes in scale transform the environment and your perspective. In HT 1-3 this was an essential part of any playthrough. It's almost entirely unnecessarily in this version (see cons). The other controls are almost exactly the same as previous versions as well, so the play is decent. Cons: first of all this one is so easy. HT 1-3 were .... bizarrely, ridiculously challenging--not in that "impossible game" way but in a way that played with forced perspective, foreground and background, and the rendering of the landscape. Some tomatoes were truly ONLY visible if you were approaching them at the right zoom level, and only experimentation would reveal that. They were impressive feats of gameplay and I found myself downright compelled to seek out all 100 of the hidden tomatoes without looking up an answer. I was engaged and entertained, with HT 1-3. in #4 here, I was at first amused to see more frequent tomatoes in the locations that had sneakily obscured some in the previous games
(the river, for example), or the tomato tree
. However, the quantity instantly became excessive. Most of the dang tomatoes are now in the first places you look. There's no point in looking in new locations, and the zoom and perspective don't really play a role. In fact, I completed the game on the first round through the landscape. The only thing that slowed me down was, as the other comments point out, the weird glitch that slaps you half a screen to the left if you go too close to the edge. After a little fiddling, I was able to figure out how close I could get to the edge without the jarring shift, but if you zoom in the distance changes and yep you get the same vertigo inducing glitch. In a game as simple as this, it's a major demerit. overall: give this one a pass---although if it is truly developed by the same person, it's cheap enough that getting it is like buying the developer a ko-fi. And HT 1-3 were good enough for that. So I will cease to complain.
