Its free, its good. It has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of cards and no MTX. In a just world this would be the frontrunner to all TCGs. This ain't a just world though, so at least you get to play it for no cost.
The HD series is one of the best card game series, on par with Richard Garfield's Spectromancer and the like. Sadly, user experience is bogged down by unwieldy UI/UX that got worse with each iteration, so playability issues hold it back. Together with a lack of co-op and fast multiplayer mode on one hand, and increasing complexity and clutter on the other, it didn't take off as could be expected from its potential. While Developer was aware of the clutter problem, they were unable to solve the issue, which may have allowed Hidden Dimension to become a more popular, modern and timeless game. The multiplayer mode it had at some point suffered from incomparable decks, in that it was futile for new players to compete with a player who had spent hundreds of hours unlocking and upgrading their cards and perfecting their deck. While supposedly it has its own save system (needs registration), the absence of Steam Could Saves makes replaying it undesirable where the old save game was lost or cannot be retrieved. The retrieval system uses one mouse-click per number or letter, and does not accept keyboard input. Around 2012 Developer was offered a deal for co-operation by larger studio Digital Extremes, to further their interests in space card-games. I am told he politely declined. I'm recommending this game for game history buffs, and people not scared of UI complexity, retro looks and feels.
A fond memory.
Whatever the number showing is, it's a massive lie. The OG Goat of Flash card games, up there with such Flash collectible games as BattleCry, HD3 will always have a little spot in my heart and I'll always come back and play a few games a year on the thing. Can't say the same for many of the physical collectible card games I own. Now, the interface is a bit clunky. If the dev decides to do something for this game ever I'd just beg for an upgrade in the ease of play area.
Hidden Dimensions 3 is a Java based single player CCG deckbuilder with a sci-fi/fleet battles theme. Gameplay consists of clicking around the interface, picking the right cards to build up your fleet and capabilities, and romping around fighting (AI) enemies. It's unusual that this is Hidden Dimensions 3 because I couldn't see Hidden Dimensions 1 or 2 anywhere. There's a lot of very good ideas here in terms of the game design itself. Certainly there's a welcome depth to the card game design that could go a very long way if the delivery of the game wasn't such a deterrent. The technical delivery here is very poor... the game was written in Java (don't laugh, it's true, I'm not kidding). There's no fullscreen or widescreen support, the best you can go is a weird 1600x1000... basically this game seems to have been made for nobody's computer. The interface is clunky, the tutorial somewhat barren and confusing. The game isn't completely free as the developer is panhandling a bit/angling for a "donation" for selling the mediocre soundtrack for $5, perhaps being unaware that Spotify is free and much better quality. I think there's some hope here, I hope to see more from this developer, perhaps as part of a professional development team who can help them learn to use game engines properly instead of resorting to Java.
I likely played this game 1000 hours when it was on Newgrounds. I maxed every card, finished every race's story, built unbeatable decks for every color and multi-color, and finished every challenge. This version seems to have some elements removed... but the core is still the same. I Recently, found it on Steam, but no idea why the Dev is giving it away for free. It is better than 90% of the AAA games I've paid money to buy... I'd pay at least $15 for it. Important note: Be sure to click the "down-arrow-icon" above the End Turn button to make the game instantly place your cards and spells like the original version! I angrily played this "new" way, clicking OK 40 times a turn, for 9 hours before realizing this option even existed! Only toggle it off when you want to read what cards do. Not sure WHY was is a needed design choice. Mouse-over to read cards worked fine in the original...
Hidden Dimensions 3, 500'den fazla kart, çeşitli oyun modları ve zorluklar sunan bilim kurgu temalı koleksiyonluk bir kart oyunudur. Filonuzu desteklemek için uzay gemilerinin yanı sıra çeşitli yapılar ve eylemler içeren desteler oluşturun.
Good amount of cards and tactics, no p2w (or any way to pay anything), a bit grindy, no multiplayer.
