Hexes

This is one of the games I go to when I need to turn my brain static levels down. When thinking hurts. When I desperately want to feel smart but it's a "cannot brain - I haz the stupids today" kind of evening. The soundtrack is JUST enough for my Autism flavored brain to stick around, without overstimulating me if I'm upset. (but also I'm pretty sure there's a mute button if that changes?) (edited July 2024 to reflect an updated understanding of why my brain gets fussy about background music differently when I'm already low on spoons)

Hexes is a matching puzzle game, and immediately thought about the many hours with Columns during family road trips on a Game Gear in my youth. Hexes brings a new and different game play than your traditional matching puzzle game. Being able to move the game board in up, down, left and right directions to aid in making a match. With every movement too, a new puzzle piece is randomly placed on the game board. There is an option to play in Dark Mode. Which inverts the colors so the game is mostly black with white text, than the game (by default) being mostly white with black text. Thank you Elektri for this! Eye accessibility options are great. Some AAA games and even some VR games do not even have any options! This was a great purchase to relive the memories of family road trips as well something to play while waiting for downloads/updates to finish, since this game is very lightweight.

Nice cosy match 3 game. Music really lends itself to just leaning back and relaxing. Nice to poke around with after a day o work.

I enjoy playing this game because it is challenging yet fun to play. I find it very calming and a nice way to pass the time. Well worth the few bucks it costs.

Played the demo for many 'a matches and snagged this upon release. Easily one of my new favorite puzzle games on Steam Deck; which I might adds works great on Deck. I highly enjoy it as a relaxing, nighttime game and an in-between projects game. Looking forward to cranking up my playtime into the multiple hours range. Definitely check it out!

A fun and deceptively nuanced matching game, unique from most other types of matching game. Easy to play, hard to master.

Hexes is a fun and addictive puzzle game with simple mechanics of moving gems and matching colors to prevent the board from filling up. The smooth gameplay and attractive interface make it highly recommended for puzzle game lovers! (´｡• ᵕ •｡`) ♡
