Before I played Hermit Home Designer, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
I played it before it came to Steam. Cute and short game that is focused on the narration. The decorating is purely cosmetic (haha), There are no real mechanics behind it though the item descriptions do tell a story. After finishing the game once there's a free mode with all locations and decorations available. The story itself is funny (especially if you like weeb humour) and hits a little too close to home at the same time. 11 / 10 would rather freeze to death in Antarctica than talk to real people.

5/10 A "decoration" game with a funny story about hermit way of life. Good: - the story is really fun and will be relatable to a sizeable share of asocial introverts here on Steam - free So-so: - the gfx are simple though passable Bad: - no gameplay. You can just drag 1 item anywhere in the scenery and press "Finish" - that's what I've done starting from location 3. It's technically like the "decorate a cake" game for kids 3-5 year old where you drag pieces of fruits and candy over a cake. I know it's a joke game but it would be far more engaging and interesting if it would actually be a life simulator like Sims, with hunger and other bars, some simple management, yet in these unusual circumstances When reading this, I had this joke feeling that the character is the wife of my dreams. This game would benefit a lot by going NSFW and having masturbation scenes. I'm serious. Anyways... Your "ramen" (Japanese soup of some sort, had to look it up) will run out. And in a cave you will have spiders, snakes and wild animals torturing you in your sleep. Your physical needs just won't leave you alone. After all, you are food to someone else, so you will be hunted for the meat on your bones, and you will have to fight back or die. Only in death will you find peace. Which is what the character comes to: her pointless, meaningless existence comes to its logical end in non-existence, death. And just look what this glorious imaginary post-death world is filled with for her: placing furniture items like in a furniture shop or in an ad magazine. So, despite all the philosophy, the character remains a consumer, the middle-class bourgeoisie. I'm not sure the developer has this meta-message in mind, but that's the impression I had from this game. These modern "hermits" seek solitude not for spiritual growth or God (which wold be the reasons in the past), not for art or science (which would be a modern reason) but simply to stuff a random cave with furniture and plush toys, hide under pillows and masturbate.
