A worthy spiritual successor to Super Hexagon, HEPTAGON expands upon its predecessor's legacy by adding new 3D perspectives, such as traveling through the inside or along the surface of a prism. These new additions increase the variety and challenge from the original game, making it perfect for veterans who want a new spin on the original formula. It also adds an in-game leaderboard so you can see how much better your friends are at the game than you. This is one of the better games I've played this year, and given that I'm far from skilled at it, let alone a veteran of the original, I nominated it for the 2020 "Best Game You Suck At" Steam award.
A wonderful fan-made sequel that took the original concept and brought it to a whole new perspective.

this game hurts
it's been a while since I've hexagon'd so it's taking me some time to get back into the swing of things. If you played super hexagon you basically know what you're getting here, and if you haven't, stop reading this and go play super hexagon.
super hexagon but........different 38/100
This is a killer game, with a killer soundtrack. Open Hexagon and Super Hexagon fans, this is the game for you.
Ooof.. I am doing my hardest to love this, but i can't. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant "sequel" from Super Hexagon. The game modes, new stages, and new 3d modes too. Great, love it, really do. Unfortunately, the game has its weakness where Super Hexagon has its strong point. The simplicity, and thus, the brilliant mechanic of your death being only your fault: In Super Hexagon, the most you can transition from is get more/less sides around to manouver. So from a triangle to a square or vice versa, for example. In Heptagon, That same transition still happens, but now you also have a transition from 2D to 3D. Especially the transition from/to the new "inside" mode is what currently hurts the game the most, in my opinion. You're now no longer in the center, near the hexagon, avoiding stuff, but on the outside. Kinda like Velocibox. BUT that also changes the way your player moves. The best way i can explain it is when you press left in 2d/3d "outside", you rotate left/counter clockwise around the hexagon. When you press left in 3d inside, you rotate left/clockwise around the hexagon. In case you missed the difference, one is counter clockwise, the other is clockwise. Which is especially annoying during transitions from/to that mode. There's a bit of a gap between where the game keeps you safe, but as soon as that is over, a wall is already coming at you. Having to re-think your movement in a game like this is usually what gets you killed. So at that point, it feels like it's not your fault, but just the bad transition. Which is why i currently can't recommend this game for the purists, which i kinda consider myself as well(having all the achievments for SH). It's still a fun experience, but the transitions just hurt the game a bit too much.
Very nice game. Keep in mind that its much, much more difficult than Super Hexagon, The perspective changes are pretty awesome, but the inconsistent player speed is slightly annoying for high-tier play. If you like Super Hexagon or Open Hexagon, make sure to grab this game as well.
HEPTAGON is very near to being the perfect fanmade sequel to Super Hexagon. Not only does it bring the heat like never before, it also brings in totally new mechanics in every level, including changes in perspective, and red patterns that temporarily reverse your controls. In addition, each level has it own sets of difficulty (hard, harder, and hardest) that keeps the game a challenge as you refine your rotation skills further and further.
