About
Hellish Quart is a local-only (two players play on one PC, not online), physics-based sword fighting game. Set in 17th century Poland, it features a cinematic story and the most iconic sword fighter archetypes of this period.
With motion-captured fencing techniques and four gamepad buttons representing four attack angles, you'll need to use timing, technique, and speed to defeat your opponents. Choose from a variety of warriors and take part in cinematic story mode, arcade mode, safe sparring, quick fights, survival mode with online leaderboards, or local multiplayer. If you want to hone your sword fighting skills, you can spar with wooden weapons or train in modern HEMA gear. And for the ultimate experience, Hellish Quart also offers an optional VR mode.
Please note that the game is still in development and only supports local multiplayer (two players play on one PC, not online).

Hellish Quart utilizes active ragdolls and real-time physics to get you the ultimate fencing experience. You can attack from four different angles using the four gamepad buttons. Different button combinations enable special attacks and combos. When you are not attacking, your character automatically assumes a defensive stance, blocking your opponent's attacks using the autoguard feature. Proper timing, technique, speed, measure, and wits are all crucial to winning, just like in real-world fencing.
The game is set in the historical 17th-century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the character models are based on 3D-scanned, reconstructed clothes from that period. The single-player campaign, once completed, will be firmly rooted in the reality of life in the region. You will duel against Zaporozhian Cossacks, Polish Hussars, Tatars, Turkish Janissaries, Swedish Reiters, French Musketeers, and more.

Reviews
Too inconsistent to enjoy. Fantastic style and mechanics, terribly applied and poorly practiced.
4/10
No historical accuracy, horrible balance, the "physics based" combat includes a lot of arms and weapon clipping, limbs elongation, the tutorial is mediocre at best, models look worse than in PS1 styled games, no real information on how the block works.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Aunque le falte mucho trabajo, es un juego que se disfruta mucho, sobre todo si te apasiona el mundillo de la esgrima.
Fun fencing game, unfortunately, since the developer decided to use non-deterministic physics to resolve things like sword collisions in the game, it will never have online netplay. The developer has confirmed this several times and has a pinned message on the Steam forums saying as much. As such, all pvp requires you to connect through Parsec, and search for games in an unofficial discord (The Hellish Quart Community Discord on Google). Not recommended for people to buy unless they really want to play the 30 minutes of single player story and grind out highscores against the AI in survival mode neither of which are very satisfying to do as a fighting game fan. That said, if you're fine with Parsec, PVP is fun.
Don't know if this was deliberately made extremely difficult, but whatever. You want hours of frustration in an attempt to get a few ducats, only to lose a bigger amount to "wound treatment"? Be my guest. Samuel is unbeatable, at the end, and the rest of the game is obviously unfinished "Early Access" because why release a finished product when you got free playtesters on Steam? End of story, fix it, make it winable, otherwise it's not worth its dime. Obviously, after the 20th rage quit in a row, it was time for an Uninstall. Not gonna be playing it, too bad I can't ask for refund anymore.
Do you like skillful melee slasher games like Chivalry 2 or Mordhau but hate when the inherent team aspect gets in the way of a truly good duel? Did you ever play those and think 'Damn this is fun, but I wonder how they would have actually done it back in the past? Well history books/surviving medieval fighting manuscripts can give you a glimpse into it, but through the dedicated work of Kubold this game can definitely give you an incredible show in how it truly plays out in motion. It's physics will surprise you and the importance put on distance and timing will change how you see melee fighting - in the best of ways for your own betterment. If you think you're a capable fencer on the games I mentioned above, give this one a try. It truly separates the wheat from the chaff. It's not about abusing one trick to get to the top, or any one superior weapon/loadout. It's finally, truly about the skill of the fencer above all else.
