"Helenenkapelle VR" is a simple historical tech demo, barely a game, more of a VR showcase about a chapel in rural Germany. What do you do in the game? You wander around a rather mediocre 3D reconstruction of a chapel and do some pointless mini-tasks by waving your arms around in not-so-glorious VR. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. The graphics aren't great. That's understandably be turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a $5 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to buy some extra DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

Атмосфера тишины и умиротворения действительно присутствует, что добавляет игре определенный шарм. Однако, интерактивность практически отсутствует. Это скорее статический тур, чем игра. Хотелось бы иметь возможность взаимодействовать с предметами, послушать историческую справку озвученную, может быть, даже решить небольшую головоломку, связанную с историей часовни. Также, управление немного неудобное, особенно передвижение. В итоге, 'Helenenkapelle VR' - это неплохой experience для тех, кто интересуется историей и архитектурой и готов смириться с минимальной интерактивностью. Но потенциал у игры значительно больше, и я надеюсь увидеть обновления, добавляющие больше геймплея и взаимодействия с виртуальным миром.
