About
From Campfire to Kingdom. Citybuilder Clicker.
Hearth and Hamlet is a cozy incremental citybuilder set in a magic-filled medieval pixel art world. Gather resources, assign workers, construct buildings and slowly, steadily turn a quiet frontier camp into a magnificent, thriving kingdom.
From humble beginnings to magical new heights, you’ll grow your settlement one decision at a time and discover more of what the world has to offer along the way.
Building is only the beginning. As your settlement grows, managing it becomes just as important as expanding it. Set laws and policies to shape how your kingdom operates, including taxation rules to boost income, rules for workers that keep morale high, city guard drafts to protect your population and civic decisions that change the character of your kingdom.
Every upgrade feeds into a research tree that permanently unlocks new technologies, from more advanced buildings and new policies, to stronger magic to experiment with. There’s always something worth working toward.
Unlock magic as your city advances and discover wild new possibilities, such as alchemical labs and magical academies that add a whole new dimension to how your kingdom operates.
Trade with strange new lands to build resources and grow your economy. Recruit soldiers as your realm expands to protect what you’ve built. There’s a world of wonder to discover as your empire grows.

Reviews

Going to give my review based off of the tags for this game on the store: Incremental: Yes City Builder/Base Building: No. This is not a city builder or base builder. You don't design or build your city. You upgrade and add set buildings. Casual/Relaxing/Idler - This is very much not a typical idle game. There is one aspect of it, the military and military upkeep system, which sets it apart from others in the genre. At the beginning, you're given 4 different difficulty options, and depending on what you choose, you really cannot idle this game. At the higher difficulties (I chose challenging), there are ever increasing (I think it's based off town population or story progression) waves of a variety of enemies. Depending on how many and type, you may get completely crushed. So you must either keep a very high military count, which costs a lot of upkeep, diverting resources from progression, or micro with using certain temporary buffs and potions, and/or dynamically change your military count based off of the upcoming threat. Overall, despite expecting an idler, I have really enjoyed the challenge and haven't found the need to grind and idle the game at all, the progression is happening all the time, and there is some replay-ability for some of the harder achievements, despite the game being the same each time. For example you may try to get the "Never trade with Ashenholt" and "Have no defeats in battle" while going for the casual difficulty ending, and then try for the harder difficulty achievements on another playthrough.
Idle clicker game far more than a city planner or the like. Can't really recommend unless you're looking for an idle clicker.
No it does not get better after 5 hours. It's not really a game. A Game you Play. Whatever this is does not need you. I hoped there might come a part where your input matters. but it does not. the only difference your input makes is how fast the premade town is upgraded. It feels a bit like those terrible resource management browser games that railroad you through a tutorial where at the end you make your first currency purchase to unlock more action points. but the tutorial is the game. yes it looks nice. but that's it. This is one of those rare occasions that i really feel i wasted my time on this game and have a bad feeling after it. And i've wasted time on games. oh boy.
