About
From Campfire to Kingdom. Citybuilder Clicker.
Hearth and Hamlet is a cozy incremental citybuilder set in a magic-filled medieval pixel art world. Gather resources, assign workers, construct buildings and slowly, steadily turn a quiet frontier camp into a magnificent, thriving kingdom.
From humble beginnings to magical new heights, you’ll grow your settlement one decision at a time and discover more of what the world has to offer along the way.
Building is only the beginning. As your settlement grows, managing it becomes just as important as expanding it. Set laws and policies to shape how your kingdom operates, including taxation rules to boost income, rules for workers that keep morale high, city guard drafts to protect your population and civic decisions that change the character of your kingdom.
Every upgrade feeds into a research tree that permanently unlocks new technologies, from more advanced buildings and new policies, to stronger magic to experiment with. There’s always something worth working toward.
Unlock magic as your city advances and discover wild new possibilities, such as alchemical labs and magical academies that add a whole new dimension to how your kingdom operates.
Trade with strange new lands to build resources and grow your economy. Recruit soldiers as your realm expands to protect what you’ve built. There’s a world of wonder to discover as your empire grows.

Just an idle clicker, emphasis on the idle. Other than deciding which upgrade to purchase next, the game basically plays itself. And the "playing" in this case is just "number of resources go up" which happens largely on its own save for the riveting gameplay element of "hold down your mouse button to make it go a lil faster". And yes that's exactly what it says on the tin, but I thought the "city/base builder" element would be more involved, which is what I purchased it for, but everything about the map is 100% predetermined, so the Idle Clicker element is truly the ONLY element to this game. I enjoy idle clickers sometimes, but this one was only mildly enjoyable for a couple hours. I probably won't revisit though.

It was great. I really enjoyed it. It was really cozy and I needed that badly this weekend.
Less idler, more clicker. Idlers eventually outpace clicking (or perhaps even have variations in playstyles so you can build clicks vs build idling). This does not. You can put 15 harvesters on a node and you'll still need to click. It will wow you with all of the upgrades to get, but at the end of the day, its just a tech branch. You build A when you're told, build B when you're told, so on and so forth. Most bizarrely, there's a difficulty selection. Does it impact resource cost? Build speed? Click resources? Nope, it impacts the least idle part of the game, where you need to acknowledge a threat and quickly build up a standing army to deal with. How much of an army? Well, you don't know! the 11 easy goblin threat will massacre your army while the 32 very hard rats will be cleared out by a couple guys. At a certain point I felt like I was playing Civilization and dealing with barbarians constantly, but at least Civ has variety to it.
The game has a really cozy vibe and is chill and fun to play. Overall, I think the concept is great and I really enjoyed it. For me personally, the game could be a bit longer and offer more opportunities to fight or interact with other cities. I hope the game will receive more patches or DLC in the future to expand the content. One thing I would especially like to see is more choices when it comes to fighting other cities. For example, similar to the caravan trade system, there could be a caravan-related combat mission or other ways to actively choose to engage in battles. Overall, though, it's a great concept and a fun game!
