'HeadCount' is a pretty average on-rails shooter in which you play the role of a military soldier taking down all manner of Arab bad-guys. Sure, this isn't going to win any game of the year awards nor will it blow you away with its low-poly graphics. But for just £3.99 you get some good gameplay here. I like the way it moves, I like the arcade-style shooting that goes on and I like that it is a one-button reload. Sometimes all you want is a fun little shooter and that is what this game is with just enough content and options to justify its own price tag. I give it the thumbs up and look forward to seeing what this developer can bring to the table next.
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/Vkb1IDkg7EY This is a neutral recommendation (because Steam doesn't allow for that, I choose to thumb up). So this is an arcade on-rails bullet hell shooter. You're basically propelled forward on rails where you shoot enemies that pop-out from 180 degrees in front of you. You usually stop behind cover and then just try to quickly take down enemies while dodging bullets. This is pure arcade action and so the weapon handling, reloading, mechanics are not realistic. You'll do one button press reloads or one-hand a two-handed weapon. You can choose a primary or secondary weapon in each hand. You can shoot power-ups for more ammo & health. There are currently only 3 levels. I want to estimate it took me less than 30 minutes to complete the game on normal. However, there is replayability as you can do the levels with different loadouts and also different difficulties. I found that the game did change up quite a bit when going from normal to hard difficulty. There was much more weapon fire spread and enemies took much longer to take out, especially if not getting a headshot. Overall, this is an okay little shooter for the listed price of only $5 USD currently. However, it does lack content with only 3 levels (even though you can probably play it for hours trying different guns & difficulties). The game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. There are several graphical options. I did experience a serious bug where the game executable kept running in the background even after quitting the game. I had to kill the executable from Windows Task Manager. Rate 5/10.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. Was a mediocre on-rails shooter until I got to a bit where the dev made the ambient colour palate the same as the bullets you are trying to dodge. Thus Invisible. Doh!
Above average onrails shooter, its easy to get into, to understand the mechanics and to use weapons. Performance is excellent on a 1080, the poly graphics help a ton, but that doesnt take away from the experience, the enemies have nice animations when hit, not that its incredible, but its way better to those other games where enemies are immune to damage until death. Gameplay is easy, reloading is done automatically by lowering your weapons, you have infinite ammo for your secondary weapon (pistols or smgs as you upgrade) and limited magazines for your primary rifle, more ammo can be found during levels as well as different weapons like shotgun, heavy mg, sniper(no scope just the heavy punch), that will help a lot but also have limited ammo. Game has a small store where you can buy primary and secondary weapons, a bit underwelming to be honest. At the time of this review the game is missing at least 2 levels (there are placeholders), only 5 levels available right now. Took me just under an hour to finish them all, with a few restarts and retries on different difficulties. So for the current price id say its barely fair. A couple of levels are definitively unfinished, as they are quite large levels that have a ton of "missed opportunities" like a bunch of buildings and stairways could have cool encounters, but you just go through them with nothing happening... some levels (specially the last 2) could be easily double or triple the length with a bunch more enemy spawns. Then i went to the forums and discord, and it seems they are working on a Campaign and knowing this makes me really excited for future possibilities. (powerups maybe?) Also the levels that are complete really do pose a challenge on the harder difficulties. Im recommending it because its a fun game that works fine, its clear its still under development, but whats in there already is worth the current price.
Solid core gameplay, great framerate, simple controls and good choice of weapons. nothing groundbreaking but a nice approachable arcade shooter that I enjoyed playing.
Güzel OwO
забавный тир который проходится за 1.5 часа оружие чувствуется забавно стреляется приятно звук кайфовый графика а ч графика пойдет
This game has a neat artstyle and on its own has good gameplay with fun shooting mechanics but personally I think there really isnt enough content to justify paying $5 for it. There are only 3 levels for you to play and there isn't much incentive to play though them again.
Headcount gameplay - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb2z-3wcgNo Good game, although needs more fun elements to be added. I like the on the rails approach and the ability to move around to dodge bullets while being automatically directed to your next path is really good.
This is an awesome game! I just hope the developers keep adding content, Only 3 levels thus far, They are all fantastic. I love this rail type shooter that allows you to move. Brilliant concept by this developer!
