Easy to play fighting game with plenty of cool attacks and fairly simple gameplay. Press directional buttons to dash back and forth, mix it up with attack, air-attack, anti-air-attack. Special moves require skulls which you obtain for defeating foes in survival mode.
im not playing this anymore, for 3 reasons. 1: it's been abandoned in Early Access. this has been without an update since 2024. 2: the developers are releasing a game in 2027 now, and that game looks 1-1 almost identical to this one. which I feel like might be a sign that, even if that game is better, they did just abandon this title in early access without any heads up or word of mouth, really. 3: the last time i was interested in the company in any way, they were encouraging posts of GenAI in their Discord. (there is no GenAI involved in the making of this game to be clear, however the discord matter's still a red flag on my end.) and even if that last one wasn't true, aside from visuals, it's just...not all that engaging by yourself. it's very dead set on you playing with others. cosmetic features are cool, but aside from an arcade mode, when i played it it just felt like i needed other people on board to enjoy it. and even then, lobbies were dead quiet, making one was a waiting game and most of the time led to people just quitting out the gate because...I dunno, and it on the whole just felt...flat. cool animations, some nice opportunities and characters felt different at points, but it just wasn't clicking.
Changing my review because I just discovered that the tutorial was actually bugged, I don't know about other people but it happened to me, as it made me confused and thought the game only supports controllers, silly me. The tutorial just doesn't work, it didn't let me do anything so I concluded that I got stuck. With that out of the way, I got to experience the game itself and it seems to be better than I expected (except the tutorial mode). So yeah, I still recommend this game. By the way, new favorite.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
This is a fighter versus game where the developers looked at all the elements that make arcade fighter/versus games successful, and removed them all. Instead, they tried to use simple and uninteresting dash mechanics and clunky controls, thinking that's what gamers really wanted. They were wrong, and this failed. It's a clunky, unpolished mess even if you can get past the way the developers designed the gameplay to be bad, on purpose. So, "Head 2 Head" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. The developers abandoned this 1 year and 9 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. On the important subject of visuals, this features fairly low quality stylised/cartoony low poly 3D graphics. It comes across as the kind of thing you see on mobile phones and Nintendo games, which will deter a lot of PC gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and to be considered one of the best games on Steam, the graphics have to be some of the best on Steam. That's not happening here. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. On the important matter of pricing and value for gamers, there's a lot going on here with monetisation, so this really shouldn't be considered a truly free product because of that. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. So this is "free", but it's abandoned. Worse, it was never intended to be free. The developer intended to charge for this if it ever left Early Access... but the developer just couldn't be bothered. Making this abandoned pollution that gamers need to filter through when searching for products made by more ethical developers who fulfill their promise to deliver on their Early Access commitment instead of breaking that promise. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
Love this game and its music! The perfect build builder to play during break!
先说缺点:默认的红色背景颜色太刺眼,经常有不适感;新手指引过少 优点也有:打击反馈很好,游戏还是免费
