Haunted Lands

This is a fantastic retro action-platformer with several concessions to modern game design that make it feel even better (checkpoints, multiple characters with different playstyles, shortcuts, equipment, etc.). That being said, the game is still pretty difficult, and there's no easy or "Story" mode for less skilled players. If you aren't the type who is comfortable with memorizing all of a boss' attack patterns over multiple deaths just to beat them once, this game isn't going to be enjoyable for you.

Extrem schwer, aber mit der sehr präzisen Steuerung (in meinem Fall nur Tastatur, aber Controller werden unterstützt) gut machbar. Die Frustrationstoleranz welche einem abgenötigt wird, bis man die Mechaniken mal gemeistert hat, zahlt sich definitiv aus. Der Entwickler hat sich auch selbst übertroffen mit der Menge an Bombast, welche er aus der minimalistischen Farbpallette geholt hat. [h2] aber: [/h2] Man kann ein Level nicht an jedem Quicksave neu starten. Heißt: Man sollte genug Zeit mitbringen für eine Sitzung. Dass man zwischen zwei schwereren Abschnitten nicht das Spiel mal eben runterfahren kann stört gewaltig. Aus diesem Grund sollte man meine Spielzeit auch etwas kritisch sehen, da ich das Spiel während einer Spielpause auch einfach mal Hintergrund laufen ließ, um ein Level nicht vom letzten Checkpoint neu machen zu müssen. Trotz dieses großen Makels, kann ich das Spiel empfehlen, vorausgesetzt man hat hin und wieder genug Zeit am Stück. Für meine freien Tage, hat es mich aber super unterhalten.

Incredibly difficult, unforgiving. This isn't much of a problem in itself but the frustration, controls and upgrade system ruins it for me which is a shame because it is very true to its 8-bit inspiration. It just takes a little too much with its commitment to stiff controls, sudden deaths and love for arena fights. I had a brutal and nasty time with it but it clearly want to be this kind of frustratingly difficult so thumbs up for achieving that.
