Reviews
"Happy Pet" isn't really a game, it's a basic virtual pet/Tamagochi, only extraordinarily badly made. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". Even as far as virtual pets go, most of them are free, this one is a paid product yet is significantly worse than the free ones. There's a slew of technical issues and outright bewildering gaffes and shortcomings. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the software display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. The developer couldn't work out how to do transparency either, so this thing only runs in its own window. This virtual pet is so bad even Temu wouldn't try to sell it. Steam Direct is only $100, though, so here we are with another amazingly lazy, valueless cash grab. These technical defects push this software below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this software is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 users, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the fake review accounts that the developer used to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only user activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 120,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality software is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This software features a number of fake positive reviews. They're all written in French, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the software launched on Steam, and have almost all the exact same writing. There's no other reviews on the product that aren't in French... these are the only ones, and they all appeared at the same time! The "Positive" review score on this software should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
So, should you buy this software? Is this one of the best of the 110,000+ games on Steam? Happy Pet is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the software, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this software as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the software (to date). Until this status changes, this software will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this software.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer admits to breaching US Federal Law by organising fake positive reviews for this trash. While the developer may be in France and immune from criminal or civil prosecution for this illegal activity, intended to falsely generate positive feedback in order to gain profit... remember, the developer wants money for this, and manipulated the Steam review system to that end. This is both illegal and highly unethical. The developer claims this is their first time trying to make a game. If I went to a restaurant, got sick from eating bad food, and got told "The chef is new and has never cooked food before", would that make it okay? No, it wouldn't. The developer supplied a very valid reason why this should never have been put up for sale on Steam in the first place. The developer admits this product has technical defects that make it unworthy of publication, but published it anyway, and then broke US federal law to manipulate reviews for it. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this garbage to anyone.
--------------------------
General impressions. And that's it
So, the first review in Russian. The game certainly has great potential: you can add skins, choose a pet's nickname, you can also add cat actions, and so on. Even more pets, and that will be interesting. But for now we have a sociopathic cat who is always dissatisfied with everything, whose mood deteriorates too quickly, and this cat is extremely difficult to please. You need to sit in the game 24 hours a day and monitor his desires. And this is tiring. I rarely write reviews on games without finishing them (getting all the achievements), but this is exactly the case. So far it is unplayable. Turned off the game, left the cat, got minus a lot of sympathy points. Did you fulfill his wish? from +1 to +2 as a maximum. It is very difficult to get 100 sympathy points. Yes, of course, I will get to the end, get all the achievements, thanks to hard work, and so on. But! This is a Tamagotchi game, right? Why should I have such a hard time completing the simplest screener? Why is it so hard to please a virtual cat? His complex negative emotions turn him into a sociopath, a horrible creature with a nasty character, who you don't want to please. You want to delete this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and never come back. I hope that the developer will listen to the few reviews and make the character of the Cat really nice (by the way, you could add purring, and not just his annoying meowing. That's what cats do when they are happy. For now - dislike. I hope you fix the project, and it will be interesting to play.
