Really disappointed about this game. I saw a video on Youtube from the creators that discussed the backstory about how they made this game. I love sim games so I was like "cool I will check this out." Sadly, they decided to project their racism onto the one black NPC in this game. The character is from Kenya and says to address him as "King [name]". Then the next in-game day he starts talking about how he has 10 wives and how difficult Valentine's Day is because all of the wives are demanding. If you like cozy/sim games like I do, skip this game. You don't have to put up with racism when there's such an abundance of sim games on the market. Plus... the game isn't even that good anyway; there are far better games with the same theme like Wilmot's Warehouse.
I do really like this game! Definitely suggest others to play it. The only thing I wish that was there that isn't would be like, some type of "upgrade" system i guess? Something like a scanner to add the fruits easier or somethin, it's just really hard to get the fruits right, i can definitely see it being a problem for colorblind people as well, the images aren't 1:1 which can make it harder to find the right number. Overall an incredibly fun game so far! Can't wait to get more in to it <3
Man, that was a joyful experience. The art is really cute and the game is very well coded. I actually enjoyed reading all of the stuff in the break room - the writing is really good. For your next games (and I hope that there will be more of them!) I would suggest putting more emphasis on main gameplay loop and progression. Cashiering is very well done but I missed something... As I said, scanning and packing products is enjoyable but sometimes I had to make breaks because it got a little boring. I guess putting some more mechanics there to make the player feel that sweet sweet second round syndrome - the urge to play next level, and then another and so on. I know it is hard since I can't really conjure anything to suggest here, but I needed to address that. Nevertheless I truly enjoyed my time with this game - I could feel that it was made with heart and that's really precious for me. I'm rooting for you guys, please make more games!
✧. ┊ Do I reccommend this game? ┊ ┊ ⋆˚ My score: 10/10 Why? This game is incredibly worth it!! Even more so for the price, I stopped playing just to give it a good review because it's just that addicting I know I'll lose track of time if I don't do so. Plus a little helpful tip since I've noticed a few people have the same problems of not being able to find certain veg/fruit and it can easily go unnoticed - The little number journal is in alphabetical order, So if you don't know what it is just hover over the item and go through alphabetically, Like for Spinach since that comes up often, You'll go to the very last page :) I always keep my spare hand hovered over the arrow keys for it to be done quickly while I'm scanning ;) Honestly don't believe I even have any con's towards this game, It's just so fun, And for the price too? Even better. Alongside how hilarious the little dialogue's are and the intro to the game was amazing. Definitely get this game!! You won't regret it <3
Game starts a bit meh, but becomes addictive really quickly! Once I got down how it all works I just wanted to keep going. Is fun and relaxing.
I would give this a 3/5 stars if I could, but it's still a really cute game. It's hard to keep playing multiple days, because its very repetitive. I wish there were upgrades or anything to freshen up the gameplay by the 10th day or so. As some people have mentioned, the produce can be very tricky as well. There were multiple times I had no idea what I was looking at, and it took too much time to hover over it for the name, finding the name in the catalog, then typing in the code. Despite those criticisms, it's very cute and I absolutely love it. It's a great game to sit down and do while a video or movie is up in the background.
Why you should or should not play Checkout: Cashier Simulator
Before You Read Every review on my profile is based on my own personal experience with a game. My opinions aren't facts, and you're not expected to agree with them-and that's perfectly okay. My goal isn't to tell you whether you should like a game. Instead, I try to explain what worked for me, what didn't, and who I think the game might appeal to. Constructive discussion is always welcome, but please remember there's a real person behind these reviews. Respectful disagreements are encouraged; insults, hostility, or personal attacks are not. What is Checkout: Cashier Simulator? Enjoy the cozy cashier checkout game as you take your time to checkout customers! Quick Pros ✔ Cozy ✔ Small Storyline ✔ Addictive gameplay loop ✔ Satisfying progression system ✔ Unique mechanics ✔ Easy to learn controls ✔ High replayability ✔ Interesting story ✔ Memorable characters ✔ Strong visual style ✔ Detailed world design Quick Cons ✘ Limited game content ✘ Repetitive gameplay loop ✘ Repetitive soundtrack Initial Thoughts: -"I think this is the coolest way I have ever designed a character." -"I love how they integrated a mini game with a mix of small storys throughout your little store." -"Some of these customers are a little to lore accurate, rude I mean." Beginner Player Friendly? Yes, I would argue this game is very beginner player friendly. There is a straightforward tutorial that helps you understand what to do and where to go next. The game play is also very straightforward so there is not to much of a learning curve in this game. Game Play: In this game your main objective is actually to just be a cashier. Scan, punch in and weigh items in order to check customers out. You also have to complete a small tetrize mini game to get the most amount of points you can to prevent yourself from getting fired. There is a bit of a story that comes from getting to know your co-workers, or you can also play in an endless mode where all you do is checkout customers with no time restraints, just fun. This game is very simple however so if you dont want to play something that is really simple I do not recommend getting this game. Graphics: The graphcis look like something straight from a pixel art program and it works perfectly for this style of game. The characters don't seem overly detailed but each of them has their own special looks and personality. I love how the groceries themselves are designed and they are all honestly adorable. I think this game could run on lower end systems. Community: Everyone in this community are very kind and helpful. I havent gandered into the steam forums but I am sure there are some helpful guides somewhere. How long can you play? So far I only have a half hour in this game, that is because I have been playing a lot of other games and as much as this one interests me I am just not in the mood to be a cashier, however I can see myself getting a few more hours out of this game. My Opinion: In my opinion this is the perfect game to shut off your brain and just do a repetitive mundane task while having some fun with the mini games. Overall Review ★ 5/10 - A cute cashier job where your co-workers lives are your only real social interaction. ✘ Active Online Multiplayer (meaning people will interact with you in game) ✔ Family Friendly (meaning friendly to all ages) ✔ Solo Playability (meaning you can play by yourself if preferred) ✘ Cross Compatibility (meaning you can play with friends through other consoles.) ✘ In-App Purchases (meaning you can buy things after buying the game i.e DLC's) ✘ Controller Compatible (meaning you can play this game with a controller) Enjoyed this review? First found out about this game through their devlog/documentary video on YouTube. Finally got around to purchasing it today and played a round. Not gonna lie, its got the mechanics to be addictive. I think that this game would do great on tablets. I play primarily with a controller or on a mobile gaming device like a steam deck, so I had to enable steam input on it, but while slower you can still play pretty well. Got a 675 on shift 1, while still trying to understand some mechanics.
give me moreeeeeeee
Genuinely a fun sort of zen process. Fun art, just enough complexity, and a satisfying casual play experience. I would love to see an expansion of the story mode that allows more apparent progression. From what I played it wasn't clear if the levels get harder, or if gameplay elements are added. If you like simple puzzle-based sims, check it out.
