More addicted to this than cocaine.
Exemplar demo version of an exemplar game. Even while it's just demo, there are hours worth of content in it. This Is How You Do It.
It's okay... It's vampire survivor with less features and a Diablo II vibe, I just hate the upgrades though, they are pretty basic and not exciting at all.

Рекомендую.
Halls of Torment: Prelude is basically Vampire Survivors mixed with classic Diablo-style visuals, and somehow that combination works ridiculously well. The game throws you into massive waves of enemies and lets you slowly transform from a weak survivor into an unstoppable screen-clearing monster through upgrades, abilities, and absurd damage scaling. What immediately stands out is the atmosphere. Unlike most survivor-style games that go for bright arcade visuals, Halls of Torment leans heavily into dark fantasy aesthetics inspired by old-school ARPGs. The chunky retro visuals, gloomy environments, and constant flood of demons give the game a really satisfying “old Diablo but pure chaos” vibe. The gameplay loop is incredibly addictive. Every run gives you new upgrades, traits, abilities, and equipment combinations that can completely change how your build develops. Once synergies start coming together and the screen fills with explosions, projectiles, and hordes of enemies instantly melting, it becomes very hard to stop playing. Even though Prelude is basically a free demo/preview version, it already feels surprisingly polished and content-rich for what it is. The good: - Extremely addictive gameplay loop - Fantastic Diablo-inspired atmosphere - Great retro visual style - Satisfying progression and upgrades - Huge enemy hordes feel awesome - Builds and synergies are fun to experiment with - Easy to learn but hard to master - Strong “just one more run” feeling - Surprisingly polished for a free prelude - One of the better survivor-style games The bad: - Gameplay can become repetitive during long sessions - RNG heavily affects some runs - Limited content compared to the full game - Certain builds feel much stronger than others - Early progression can feel slow - Visual chaos can become overwhelming - Not much story or narrative depth - Performance can dip during extreme late-game moments Overall, Halls of Torment: Prelude is an excellent introduction to the full game and one of the strongest survivor-style roguelites around. It nails the addictive progression loop while adding a dark fantasy atmosphere that helps it stand out from the crowd.
Takes way to long to actually get decent powers. Bosses run 20% faster and take forever to kill. Vampire survivors is way better then this.
Crunching skeletons crashing before my might. This game *feels* real good
Many of us loved Diablo and its sequels. This game is a lot like the first two Diablo games, minus the annoying village, the weird quests and a bunch of other things. It kind of keeps the good things, but it's also a survivors game (like Vampire Survivors) and also a roguelike (you're bound to die, then you spend in-game currency on enhancements). It's a very decent mix of things. If anything, I would call it a Diablo-themed survivors-clone with a very nice theme and music. I've played the demo a lot and still not felt the need to actually buy the full game because the demo keeps me plenty occupied (of course, I will buy the full game later because it's just a damn good game). The graphics are simple but work quite well, the music and sounds are perfect for the theme, the controls are pretty standard for PC games (but a bit meh for me as a console player who prefers a real gamepad), the game is quite challenging and I would say it's more difficult than Vampire Survivors where you can quickly become extremely overpowered just a few minutes into the game. That doesn't work here, it keeps being challenging and you can never take it easy like in Vampire Survivors. For instance, here you actually have to aim your attacks with the mouse and the enemies are way more aggressive than in Vampire Survivors, so it's definitely more challenging in that way and you can seldom defend effectively once they start swarming you. All in all, this is a damn good game. If you like survivor games, you should play it. If you like roguelikes, you should play it. And if you like Diablo...you probably should play it.
I play this game a lot at work on my steamdeck (lenovo legion go), and to be perfectly honest, it is super hard to put down once you start playing. It plays so smoothly, controls are simple and intuitive, easy to pause when something comes up or whatever. It just plays like it was made for a handheld, and I thoroughly enjoy it on mine.
