Gunk

It could have been a decent platformer with a charming art style but it's clearly unfinished. There's very little content, the physics is glitchy, the controls are somewhat janky, the achievements are broken, and the only level that looks complete (level 1 on Normal) can't be finished. The store page is misleading, trying to pretend this is a finished game, not just a prototype. That's the final reason why I can't recommend it even though it's free.

"Gunk" is an incomplete feeling and largely abandoned 2D retro platformer (thankfully without pixelcrap "art"). In this game you control a snail and do normal platforming stuff, but there's also a "shell" mode where you bounce around and stuff because that's not how snails work. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

The most gunky game ever.

I was depressed and had almost completely lost my will to live. Then I played Gunk and it changed everything. Best snail simulator ever.

After 100% completing what might possibly be the best platformer or even game of a life time, I've come to the conclusion that this game is pretty freakin' sweet.

still needs work fell through the map on the first level. can be relaxing with the music though.

10/10 Awesome Game. Was constantly diamonds when playing this. Cant wait for the rule34 to finally be released.
