Grotesque Beauty - A Horror Visual Novel

Great visual novel with choose your own adventure branching pathways. Lots of replay value and it has a creepy twilight zone feel to it. My only issue right now is sometimes the text box remains black. When the 2 girls go downstairs to investigate the noise a large portion of their conversation is just a black bar. I have a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor and am wondering if that may be causing the issue? other than that it's great.

História: Vc joga com Rachel que decide visitar sua amiga de infância Anita, Os pais de Anita trabalham a noite e ela decide que seria mais seguro pra Rachel dormir lá pois estão ocorrendo desaparecimentos na vizinhança( o que me faz pensar que ela deve morar no Brasil) , ela também relata que está tendo estranhos sonhos e conforme a noite adentra acontecimentos bizarros começam a ocorrer.... estaria a estranha e bela pintura adquirida recentemente ligada a esses fatos? Gráficos: Desenhados a mão , apenas Preto e Branco e Cinza , o que faz bem ao clima que o jogo propõe, a engine permite alguns efeitos legais como movimentação de personagens algo Não muito comum em VNs. Som: O Ponto forte do jogo, o Horror é acentuado pelos excelentes efeitos sonoros, altamente recomendado utilização de Fones de Ouvido. Replayabilidade: Jogo não é muito longo ( em media 40 minutos até menos se usar o recurso de pular o texto) porém tem um alto fator replay devido ao fato de conter 30 finais diferentes , suas decisões mudam radicalmente a história, seria vc capaz de sobreviver a noite? Preço: o valor full não é caro e em promoção é mais barato que um pastel de vento. English Grotesque Beauty is a small masterpiece for lovers of VN and Horror, strongly inspired by the works of the master Junji Ito. Story: You play with Rachel who decides to visit her childhood friend Anita, Anita's parents work at night and she decides that it would be safer for Rachel to sleep there as there are disappearances in the neighborhood (which makes me think she must live in Brazil), she also reports that she is having strange dreams and as the night enters bizarre events begin to occur .... would the strange and beautiful painting recently acquired be linked to these facts? Graphics: Hand-drawn, only Black and White and Gray, which is good for the atmosphere that the game proposes, the engine allows some cool effects such as character movement, something not very common in VNs. Sound: The strong point of the game, Horror is accentuated by the excellent sound effects, highly recommended to use Headphones Replayability: Game is not very long (on average 40 minutes even less if you use the skip text feature) but it has a high replay factor due to the fact that it contains 30 different endings, your decisions radically change the story, would you be able to survive the night? Price: the full price is not expensive and on sale is cheaper than a pastel. Verdict: Grotesque Beauty is a great addition for lovers of Visual Novels and Horror, Play in the Dark and HeadPhones. game works only on 64-bit systems so no windows 7 32 :) TL; DR: Cheaper than Cyberpunk 2077 and WORKS.

Got spooked. Great art and really effective animations with very nice ambient soundscapes and sound effects to go along with it. The game is also heavily branching, which is both good and bad depending on how you look at it. Choices matter but there are also many dead ends where you meet terrifying consequences to your decisions. The only thing that I found lacking was that the terror was very vanilla compared to Junji Ito's obsessive and almost surrealist situations and horrors. But that's not a big deal, this is one of the best horror games I've played all year.

Die Geschichte ist inspiriert von Werken von Junji Ito. Wer schon einmal auf irgendeine Weise mit seinen Werken in Kontakt gekommen ist, der erkennt sofort den Stil des Artworks wieder. Man hat mehrere Entscheidungsmöglichkeiten die dann auch zu unterschiedlichen Enden führen. Insgesamt soll das Spiel 30 Enden bieten. Ich habe das Spiel im Sale für 3,74€ (Normalpreis: 4,99€) gekauft und kann es jedem Fan des Genres Visual Novel mit Horror empfehlen.

This game is, amazing. The only complaint I have is that it's too short.

A demó tetszett, volt hangulata, és kíváncsivá tett, hogy mi is történt itt. A játékot (többször) végigjátszva kiderült, hogy ezt valószínűleg a fejlesztők sem tudják. Csináltak egy hangulatos demót, amire én is ráharaptam, azután pedig 30 befejezést. A játék demó utáni 5 perce még rendben van, de utána egyszerűen arra megy rá, hogy minél gusztustalanabb legyen. Ha ebbe az irányba megy ez a műfaj, akkor én inkább nem kérek belőle.

Firstly, I really did enjoy this horror VN, especially since it had so many different endings. The art was good and it worked really well for the story. The sounds were also good with boosting up the suspense as well. The story was pretty interesting and it kept me hooked. I did notice some typos and odd phrasing, which for a VN, the writing is a big thing for me. For the most part, the typos were small enough that the context is still understood (just a few examples: "een" instead of "even", "we're" instead of "were", "feeling concussion", etc). Some of the phrasing did come across as a tad bit odd to me personally, but it wasn't grammatically correct. Honestly, the game could use a bit more proofreading, but really, the writing in general was good and the mistakes weren't overly obvious or confusing to deter the enjoyment of the game. I didn't experience any major bugs beyond a hiccup with one of my save files, I was able to load it up but it loaded up in the screen right before where I actually saved, and the game wouldn't let me progress at all. Also, sometimes alt+enter didn't change screen mode properly (I would either have to load a save or go back to the title for the game to change from full screen to window). Not a big deal, just something I noticed late in my gameplay. Overall, even with the few typos, I definitely recommend this game to any VN fans who love horror. This is a definite must play.

I had a great time with this visual novel. I got spooked after the first 20 minutes, so I had to call my friends and play together with them. We had lots of fun trying to get all the endings and trying to find the "good" ending. I really enjoyed the game's art aesthetic as well. The art for the characters and the music/sound effects were made really well! One detail I particularly love is that we could see a person's eyes staring back at us from the blacky mist at certain times. That was so spooky and so cool!

the fact that you're able to get 30 endings is worth the price alone. love the visual and sound effects! I also appreciate the language/dialogue with the characters in this game too. as a streamer {Lozza's Emporium on Facebook} I agree with the creator that you should NOT stream every ending. I have played this game... about 5 times and have gotten a different ending each time. overall, this is a GREAT visual novel game
